By random by visiting this seaside Turkish city that does not reach your population even up to 100,000 people, my son every time, when he is asked to call some city, calls Manavgat. And let the inhabitants of this city do not take offense, but the word "some", as it should not be better characterized by this settlement.
My familiar Turk driving through the car through this city every time he says that he would not want to live here, he is very unguable and travel. No, there are no flames in architecture or in the location of Manavgata, but simply does not cling to this town as it happens to the soul of tiny European villages by the sea. Yes, to say that this town is located very much by the sea, it is impossible for about five kilometers in a straight line and in the midday heat to the city, not the slightest refreshing breeze.
Throughout Turkey, the abundance of state flags on houses and balconies, and here the flags are absolutely everything, apparently very patriotic people live in Manavgate. From that little that really decent attention in the city can be noted an interesting artificial vertical waterfall, whose jets are descended down by stones.
Noteworthy the city market, with such amic bass in narrow and stuffy rows, that it seems these things are sold here since the founding of the city. The Manya River of the same name with a muddy greenish water is the main artery of the city. On this river, tourists are arranged pleasure walks on the boats.
Next to the city is Canyon Köprulyul through which the Owl Bridge is thrown. Built by the Romans in the second century. This is a really sightseeing mind. Interestingly, the Turks restored the bridge or it was preserved in such a good form by itself to the present day. On the fifteen-talometer distance from the city there are ruins of the old town of Side, where you can still see the well-preserved antique amphitheater and the remains of the temple of Apollo.
Having finished with the excursion program, we gathered to eat in the city, but having passed a lot of kilometers and even attempted to move to another area on a passing bus, we did not find such a institution that would set us something in our arms. Stuffed premises with disconnected or missing air conditioners repel us from the thought of food. Finally, we came across a clean and cool ice cream cafe with working air conditioning. There we have snoozy with delicious Turkish ice cream. Getting out of the city we had to be desperately rebuilt with taxi drivers, because they consistently kept the high price. We were lucky, passing by the market "Warehouse" Taxi driver agreed to take us off for an acceptable amount and we were tired of crawling at the heat with gratitude asked to his old car with open windows.
