Roman term
The vintage terms decorated with mosaic are located between Gran Serev (a large palace) and the street Riad Ass Solh. Some rooms of this building have been preserved in a rather good form. By the way, the premises differ in the temperature regime: cold in frihydarium, warm in teepidarium, and the hottest - in Caldaria. This is the most interesting structure in the Archaeological Park of the antiquities of Beirut.
Raouche (Raouche)
This is one of the elite districts of the city, with modern high-rise buildings, luxury restaurants and romantic walking boulevard, Avenue de Paris along the promenade. The name of the area comes from a distorted French "Roshe", which means rock. And not for nothing! After all, the main attraction of the district is "pigeon rocks" - two huge cliffs of Boulder in the sea.
Star Square (Star Square)
We find this beautiful area in the heart of the old Beirut. The name area is not by chance: the area is built in the form of a star, and the Luchi-Street is diverged from the main part. MANARA Lighthouse (Al-Manara Lighthouse)
This is one of the few operating lighthouses of the country. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century in the northern part of Beirut, on Avenu De Paris. The two-meter beacon is a round concrete tower with a lantern on a quadrangular pedestal. Actually, the name "Manara" in Arabic means "lighthouse". By the way, this lighthouse is located much closer to the shore, rather than other country's lighthouses. Manara replaced the old black and white lighthouse, which today is used in the quality of the relay station of state radio stations of Lebanon.
Castle and Museum Museum (Moussa Castle and Palace Museum)
This is a luxurious castle of the mid-20th century. With the appearance, the construction resembles some medieval castle. Named building in honor of the Lebanese Providant Mousse Abdel Karim al-Maamari. Actually, he was engaged in the construction of this castle all his life - he came up with a construction plan in childhood, but I could embody the idea of Mussus much later. The castle can be found in Byte Ed Den, which is 40 km from Beirut. There is a building in the mountains of Shuf, at an altitude of 900 meters. Inside the castle, you can visit the museum of weapons and wax figures depicting the scenes from the daily lives of people who lived in the mountainous regions of Lebanon. Also in the castle you can buy a book of Al-Mamari Mousse called "My Life Dream" - in print or on a disk.
Parliament Building in Square> National Assembly Building On Etoile Place)
In this building, Lebanon's legislative body is sitting - the National Assembly. A two-story building with an arched gate was erected in 1933 in the style of Boz-AR (eclectic style, continuing the traditions of the Italian Renaissance and French Baroque). This construction can be seen on the main area of Beirut - Etoile.
Great Palace (Grand Serail)
Big Palace or Grand Seraral-Stop-Apartment Prime Minister Lebanon. The building was elevated in 1853 initially as a premises for the barracks. The palace with a modern interior is located on the hill, so that it can be seen from some parts of the city. Interestingly, he first had only two floors, but after the reconstruction in 1998 (which lasted three years), another floor was allowed to the palace. Today in the upper floors there is a residence of the Prime Minister and offices of employees and ministers. On the ground floor there is a banquet hall, a press center and a courtyard. There is also an underground level where parking is located, several offices and room for personnel. In total, the Palace Square is 39,700 sq.m.
Hamidiyyeh Clock Tower)
The clock on this five-story 25-meter tower was installed in 1897 in honor of the tenth anniversary of the coronation of Sultan Abdul-Hamid II. This tower can be found near the Big Palace - Grand Serala. Made a construction from Beirut Sandstone, Junior Limestone, Damascus Basalt and Red Stone from the city of Deir El Kamamar. Attention attracts a massive bell weighing 300 kg in the middle of the tower. By the way, at the end of the 19th century, this tower was the highest building in Beirut.
Beiteddine Palace (BeitedDine Palace)
Baitdin Palace near Dair El Kamarom in the Shuf area was built by Italian architects for Emir Bashir II Shihab. Palace-Baroque style and traditional Arabic style. The building was built long thirty years, started in 1788. Today it is a luxurious complex with arched galleries, fountains and three yards. Celebrations and holidays were held in the outer court, there was a house for guests, where anyone could easily stay for three days. Today, the annual festival is held on this site. On the middle yard there were previously stables that accommodate up to 500 horses, as well as there were rooms for 600 infantrymen - the personal troops of Emir.
In the courtyard there were personal orders of Emir, the main hall for solemn receptions, kitchens, bathrooms, smoking and relaxation rooms. Impressive rich collection of the Byzantine mosaic from Porfirion.
Mosque Mohammad Al-Amin Mosque
This luxury mosque is located in the heart of Beirut on the Martyrs Square. This is a relatively new mosque, because it was built less than 10 years ago (from 2002 to 2007). Next to the mosque is the grave of the Lebanese Prime Minister Rafa Hariri, by whose order and the building was built. Also this mosque is called the Hariri Mosque. The area of the mosque with yellow walls is 10,700 square meters. Dome of the blue mosque with golden details are visible from afar. By the way, until 2012 in the mosque was a separate entrance for women, today all guests can enter the mosque through the main entrance.
