On the island of Kos I was a spouse in September 2013. And we fell in love with this island at first glance. It is impossible to remain indifferent to the magnificence of nature of the Spit. The island surrounds from all sides of the Aegean Sea, and the nature of the island is full of contrasts: here and white sand beaches, and mountains with coniferous forests, and fields, and cities and villages are drowning in greenery and exotic colors and all this beauty fit on a small island, which You can go around in a few hours by car, what we did. It does not make difficulty to rent a car, in any place convenient for you, both in your hotel and in any settlement. The terms of the rental are very loyal, but it is necessary to carefully study the terms of the contract and insurance. It is very good and understandable ones, which can be traveled even to a novice driver without any problems. All locals are very friendly and always with joy, will help and answer any question. However, it is worth noting that on the island there are few residents of speaking in Russian, but the absolute majority speak English.
Also on the spit there are a lot of attractions and places in which it is really worth visiting. We managed to visit not everywhere, but also what we saw, left huge impressions. What is just the city of Kos! This city is managed to combine very well and temperament of the East and European tranquility. This is also expressed in the architecture of the city, and in the kitchen and in the nature of people. Kos is a beautiful, calm, unforgettable city. Here you can visit several sights. We went to the main city of the island three times, and have never been tired of it. We are bonded by the fortress of John the city of Kos, this is a delightful place that transfers to the distant past. Entrance to the fortress is paid, approximately 1 euro per person.
Immediately next to the fortress is a plane of hippocrat. And 4 kilometers from the city is the famous Askletpion, the temple of the healer of Asclepia.
In the spit itself there is a port, with a huge number of different yachts. Excursion yachts from various travel companies prevail here, which represent the services of tourists various maritime walking options. Also in the city a huge number of restaurants and shops. Here you can buy all ranging from small souvenirs and ending with the purchase of a fur coat. However, the prices of fur and skin, on the destructive spit, especially compared with prices on mainland Greece. Many purchases, such as souvenirs, alcohol, we made Konstantinos supermarkets in the famous network there, as prices are much cheaper there than in other stores.
Separately, it is worth noting the Greek cuisine - more good food, I have not tried anywhere. Despite the fact that we rested on the system all inclusive, we set ourselves the task of necessarily a local cuisine, and was not mistaken. I hardly have enough words to describe how interesting, a variety of and excellent in your taste, Greek cuisine, can only say that it needs to try at least once. The Greeks are also distinguished by their welcome and hospitality, so the restaurants are also perfect. After we have dinner in the restaurants of Spit, we left there with a feeling as if visited at very close people, so warmly and benevolently met us.
We were also on the opposite side of the island, Kefalos. From here there is a chic view of the island and the sea. Here you can visit the best beaches of the island, for example, to visit the Paradais snow-white beach.
But separately I want to tell about two more fabulous places of the island of Kos, in which we managed to visit. In the first place, we were in the village of Ziya, which is high in the mountains, the National Natural Reserve is located immediately. Taking up the trails of the reserve, we saw all the beauty of the island of the island from the top point. Well, secondly, this is an amazing place called a cry - it is a forest, on the territory of which the peacocks just walk. They can be fed, take a picture with them, as they are already accustomed to people and are not afraid at all.
You can talk about the spit infinitely, since this island is really very good to everyone. This is a place for a quiet, interesting and unforgettable holiday. And for us, he became a favorite place of recreation, in which we plan to go back.
