Thessaloniki. There was very little time here, but I managed to evaluate all the advantages of this city. I'll start with the fact that I was most liked more than the capital of Greece - Athens. The city is much cleaner, cultural, and in terms of historical monuments is completely not inferior to Athens. Well, this is my personal opinion, perhaps someone considers otherwise.
Beginning familiarity with the city with a white tower is, in fact, the symbol of the city. Once the tower served as a prison function, but after the liberation of Greece from the Turkish power, it was repainted in white, so that she would never restind about the blood, which shed here, but symbolized something clean, white, good! There is a museum in which, unfortunately, I did not get. After that, walked along the embankment, which is located two steps from the tower - the beauty is incredible! The territory is well-groomed, the numerous bicycle paths are immediately striking, a lot of greenery is a wonderful recreation area, it was here that we passed in the evenings!
I can not remember the area of Aristotle - the largest square of thessalonik. This is the place where various urban events are often held. In the center of this area is the hero itself - Aristotle. There is a legend that if you hold the finger of his hands - your desire will come true. Others say that if you do this - you will be satisfied with the wisdom and mind of the philosopher. I, of course, burst! I hope - the effect will be! ;)
What is remembered yet? The Church of Agios Dimitrios was remembered - an important Byzantine landmark, the largest church of Greece. In fact, it is not even a church, but basilica. I was struck by mosaic, struck icons, interior details, history and legends about the temple. Of course, they laughed in front of the holy laurenity of Campo, the power of which is preserved here.
It is difficult to remember all the historical monuments that we have walked around. He wrote about those that they most remembered. As a lovers of shopping - Thessaloniki also pleased me. The city has a huge number of shops, shopping centers: prices are available. Evenings rested in small taverns with an excellent cozy atmosphere.
The next time, when you fly to Greece, definitely, stay here again to make sure of the beauty and greatness of this city. But I will not advise him for those who want the sea, but for those who want to walk, see something interesting, and spend time not only nice, but with benefit.
