The first thing that comes to my mind when memories of the journey to Brussels, there is no not a Brussels cabbage, as many probably thought, but what about this city can be said, the real city of contrasts.
It is really combined here that is not combined, the beautiful old Gothic Church is in the immediate vicinity of no attractive and gray quarter.
Brussels is relatively not a big city, but there are surprisingly ancient buildings with pathos mirror highlights, architectural monuments with modern art, if it can be called that.
I traveled in early October and the weather would say, there was not much joyful, so the memories are not as rainbow, but there is still a thing about that if you, going to Brussels in the fall, prudently take a umbrella with you.
And so I heard a lot about the legendary sculpture "Pissing Boy", but I confess, for me it was the discovery that the birthplace of this sculpture was Brussels. Sculpture will not be afraid of the word symbol of the city.
Because the pissing boy is everywhere, and in the literal sense of the word, and chocolate in the form of a "pissing boy" and souvenirs, such as lighters or corkscrew, and monuments and just gypsum sculptures in low-cost restaurants in general in one word at every step, which is just not possible miss. But I confess, the original disappointed me, nothing special and why this sculpture is so honored, it is not clear.
Whatever I called the landmark of Brussels, so this is the Gran Plas Square. Here really the spirit captures from luxurious vintage buildings with an exquisite finish in the style of Gothic. Every building in its own way perfectly, it seems that architects tried to compete with each other, who will better decorate and will issue their project.
He heads all this magnificence of the Brussels Town Hall, which stands out against the background of other structures due to the high cone, crowned, which is a vane in the form of an archangel of the winning Satan. If you do not regret a few euros and go inside the Town Hall, I assure you will not disappoint, the magnificent decoration simply admires, gorgeous tapestries, ancient mirrors with gilding, carpets, as well as two working fountains in the backyard will not leave anyone indifferent.
"House of the King" - another building on the central square that is impossible to skip. In the building itself, a city museum with quite fascinating exhibits is opened. And what has attracted my attention that each building has a name: "House of Roses", "House of Wolf", "Fox House" and other no less interesting names.
The strangest landmark that I had the opportunity to see is atomium. It is a sculpture of giant sizes, some metal spheres, interconnected by pipes, probably a masterpiece of modern arts, but I don't understand this, still personally for me is a historical architecture as closer to understanding the beautiful. If you go inside the sculpture and raise the escalator, from all sides with a transfusing light, then you fall inside each sphere, where no less bizarre exhibits are located than the building itself. In general, the landmark is so-so.
A little further is the more interesting attraction "Park Mini-Europe", it is interesting that the miniatures of almost all the sights of the European Union are collected here, and so in detail that it is just amazing.
Having walked on this park, I decided for myself what sight I will see the next trip, and what country I define for myself, I will write in the next review when I see everything with my own eyes.
