What is interesting to see Riga?

Riga is quite interesting for city architectural lovers. It is easily combined by ancient stone buildings and bridges with high-altitude structures of modern architecture. For tourists, of course, the so-called "old Riga" is the highest interest - the historic center of the city, in which the construction of the 13-14th century is preserved, the streets are paved by a cobblestone, and passing around the quarter, you get into various epochs that this city experienced. It is there and it is worth going first if you were in Riga passage or just for a short time.

The greatest value is the two Riga Lutheran Cathedral: St. Peter's Cathedral, in which there is an observation deck, almost completely restored after World War II, and the Dome Cathedral, with one of the world's largest organs. Here, the Dome Cathedral, in the city center, is located the Museum of the History of Riga and Navigation. You can visit them any day up to six in the evening, the entrance to the St. Peter's Cathedral is free, it is paid only to the look at the observation platform. Sometimes there are various exhibitions or concerts in the indoors of the Cathedral, the entrance to them is also free. In the Dome Cathedral I highly recommend visiting the organ concert, they pass in the evenings quite often.

Walking along the old Riga, almost every step can be stumbled upon the sights. On the Town Hall Square in the center there is a monument to Roland, and a little indeed - the building of the merchant guild, or, otherwise, the House of Chernogolov, fully restored in the nineties of the twentieth century.

At the moment, the Presidential Office is located in Nm, so that the next two years tourists will not be able to inspect the building from the inside. Alberta Street with an old town almost all consists of architectural delights of past centuries: stucco, statues on the facade, mosaic and columns - everything can be found here.

Here, literally in several quarters, there is a powder tower, in which now is one of the branches of the Military Museum of the city. The same time is built in Riga and the Swedish gate - the complex of buildings on Story Street. Nowadays it is located the Union of Architects of the city. But in the so-called "three brothers" - three nearby houses on the street Maz Pils, resembling a piece of Holland and built from 15 to 17th century, there is already a museum of architecture of Latvia.

For lovers of more modern buildings, the new Riga with its spiers and heights will undoubtedly be interesting. The Riga Telbashnya is literally towers above the city, which has a viewing platform, it is located on the opposite bank of the river, opposite the Cathedral of St. Peter. At the moment, the building of the Latvian National Library is being built, which will become the most expensive library in the world, almost 115 million Lats were allocated to its construction (remind you that the lat was more expensive than the euro). The Riga Central Market, oddly enough, is also a fairly interesting structure in its architecture, attracting the attention of tourists from different countries.

In addition to architectural structures that are scattered around the city, Riga offers several dozen museums. In addition to the museums of naval and architecture already mentioned, you can visit the Museum of Medicine History, Aviation Museum, Museum of Dolls, Sun Museum, or Porcelain Museum. They usually exposed not only permanent exposures. But replaceable imported, including from other countries. And a little less than 100 rubles, you can get into the ethnographic open-air museum, which is located on Lake Yugg.

But not alone museums, as they say, in Riga at the moment there are seven different theaters. The Rijanians themselves are very proud of their opera theater, but I would advise you to pay attention to two absolutely non-classical theater: the OSA Theater is "Society for free actors" and a new Riga Theater. If you are in Latvia with children, you must certainly visit the Latvian Puppet Theater in Riga.

If Riga turned out to be the place of your trip, it is worth paying attention to the less well-known in the cultural plan, but quite interesting for tourists of the institution: the legendary house with black cats in the city center, the Hospitalis restaurant and the Riga water park, which is located on the left bank of the Daugava.
