Excursion to the ancient city you committed, being on vacation in the Montenegrin resort Budva. Such an excursion cost us 30 euros and took the whole day. It is not very far from Budva to the Kotor, so we got a sightseeing program with a guide with a goal of a common acquaintance with the city, and enough free time to get a deeper idea of the ancient city.
The first thing that rushes into the eyes is a unique nature and terrain landscape. The cities are squeezing between the mountains on the one hand and the Boko-Kotan bay on the other. In the late 70s of the last century, it was introduced by UNESCO to the List of World Heritage Cities. After all, the first buildings appeared here in the 12th century, and over time the city has grown, forming as if on zones divided by historical epochs. Now on his architecture you can literally study the story. Special attention is paid to the fortress walls of the city of the 16th century building, as well as inspect the Cathedral of the Holy Trifon, which was built in the middle of the foundation of the city. The 1979 earthquake destroyed many objects in the city, but some of them were restored and reconstructed through the ancient chronicles.
Unfortunately, there are no beaches in the city of beaches that are suitable for swimming. But here is a very big parking for yachts whose belonging, judging by the most diverse flags, is quite different. There are among them, as the guide told, and the yachts of Russian oligarchs under the "comfortable" flags of offshore harbors.
In addition to the examination of the Old Town and the City Pier, we recommend walking on shopping and visit one of the local cafes, where you can eat very tasty and cheap, tasted, by the way, the real Montenegrin cuisine. Kotor in Montenegro is considered to be a recognized capital of traditional culinary art. Most of the souvenir shops are located on the urban embankment. The product range is very large here, but prices will increase those in the resort Budva. At the same time, the quality of traditional Chernogorsk souvenirs is better here. A trip to which you will definitely be satisfied!
