Walmgate Gate (Walmgate Bar)
It is one of the four gates in a medieval city that wore a defensive function. The gate is a massive stone arch, which was built in the 12th century. This two-level barbican has a viewing platform at the top, and the lower part was used as a warehouse for food and weapons. The massive oak gate with stone pillars and the grille are in the 15th century. The gate has undergone many attacks and fires for their history and after the destructive actions they have repeatedly restored. Today is a gate-favorite tourist destination. Durrase Cathedral of Christ and the Holy Virgin Mary (Durham Cathedral)
The cathedral in the Romanesque style was built in the 11th century, and in the first centuries after the construction performed the same defensive function. After the consecration of the temple, the relics of Cuthbert Lindisfarnsky and Oswald Northumbrian, the main shrines of Durham were moved here. In the 12th century, the Cathedral was attached to the Capella of the Virgin Mary in the Gothic style, where the relics of the chronist of the troubles of the honorable and Cardinal Thomas Langley are located. It is noteworthy that in the cathedral there is one of the largest collections of English old-line books and 3 copies of the Great Charter of Valibilities. The tower of 66 meters high in the center of the cathedral has an observation platform on top, offering a luxurious view of the city and surroundings. OUSE Bridge (Ouse Bridge)
This is the oldest in the city of the bridge, because it was built in the 9th century! This museum has been working since 1830. The luxurious Victorian structure contains 4 permanent exhibitions with outstanding collections of international importance in the areas of such sciences as biology, geology, archeology and astronomy. Here you can admire 200 thousand exhibits of flora and fauna, stuffed and the remains of animals, which lived on this territory more than 125 million years ago. 120 thousand samples of rocks, minerals and fossils are exhibited in the geological hall. Yorkshire Aviation Museum (Yorkshire Air Museum)
The museum is located on the territory of the old Raf Elvington air base near York. This base was created during World War II. Almost forty years later, after the end of the war, these facilities restored and created the open-air museum here. The collection of the museum is about 60 aircraft and vehicles, including the rarest models of Galifax bombers and Nimrod. Also, you can see the control tower, uniforms, displays with military items and pilot huts - the atmosphere in the museum is simply indescribable. Nearby you can find a restaurant and souvenir shop. Children will like the museum, because two are designed specifically for children.

Heslington Hall (Heslington Hall)
This construction on the territory of the student town of York University is a Victorian building with two floors, which was built in 1568. At first, the building of the brick and stone was home to the secretary of the city administration, then a very long time after the death of the owner and his relatives, the house was in launch. In the middle of the last century, the house was finally renovated and opened for free visits. It pleases that the restoration almost did not change the initial appearance of the building. Inside, you can see gorgeous cabins in the Gregorian style with antique furniture and paintings of the former owners. In addition, the University Administration today is sitting in Heslington. You can see a lush and very beautiful garden around the building.
