Upper City (Citta Alta)
Chitta Alta spread over the hill, turning into a river valley. This part of the city is located at an altitude of 373 meters above sea level, and the New City area is connected with the help of a cable car. The new city, by the way, is located in the river valley and partly on the hill. The founders of Chitta Alto Celty-centurians and almost 11,000 people lived here in the heyday. However, in the 5th century the town almost completely destroyed Huns led by Attila. Then in 580, the upper city became part of the Great Empire of Karl the Great, and even became the center of Chitta Alta County, which existed until the end of the 11th century, until he was considered the commune as part of the Lombard League. Today, the upper city is an extremely popular place, in particular, thanks to the most castle on a rock, Bergamsky Cathedral and Capella Colleone.
Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore (Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore)
This cathedral is located at Bergamo Cathedral Square. Basilica was built in the middle of the 12th century on the site of the old church of the 7-8th century. Basilica was erected thanks to local residents. The temple in the form of the Greek Cross, with five apsides (semicircular arch of the building) and an interesting facade. In the 14th century, the Cathedral was a place for folk assembly, then with the change of power in the city, the temple was only an architectural landmark. A little less than a century later, the temple continued to hold, in particular, built Baptistery (an extension to the Church, intended for the Breastplate) and two side porticoes, and later built a bell tower and the sacristy (premises for the storage of liturgical vestments of priests and church utensils). The dome of the Basilica decorated with its works the artist Giovanni Batista Tapolo.

Venetian Wall (Mura Venete)
The wall began to build in the middle of the 16th century on the site of the old dilapidated wall in defensive purposes. Moreover, the construction was engaged in a huge number of people, several thousand workers and soldiers from Bergamo and Venice. To extend the wall, I had to demolish at home and shopping shops of local residents, so that the construction times were perceived by the local people very painful. The wall was built about 20 years, and now it is a majestic large-scale structure of 6 km long and 50 meters high. In all of its entirety, the construction is equipped with hundreds of boys, three dozen guard booths and four inputs. However, according to its direct appointment, the wall did not use it - in 1797 the French army entered Bergamo without bloodshed and struggle. Nevertheless, the wall did not demolish, it was reconstructed, and now is the symbol of the city and one of the most important attractions of Bergamo.

Old Town Hall (Palazzo Vecchio O Della Ragione)
A city municipality was located in the town hall for several centuries, while in the mid-13th century a terrible fire practically erased the construction from the face of the Earth. The whole century was reconstructed and returned to life, but only 60 years later, during the invasion of Italy, the Spanish troops burned the town hall. And again, she began to actively restore, although no one believed that she would not be burned again. About 20 years old, the architect who was entrusted to the restoration of the cathedral hesitated whether to start reconstruction work, and the same took the case. As a result of the restoration of the town hall, it was noticeably transformed: the entrance was decorated with four beautiful columns, and the facade - the winged lion, in honor of St. Mark. Inside the town hall, paintings of the "Philosophers" series are stored, written by Donato Bramante, one of the most famous architects of 15-16 centuries.

Cathedral of Bergamo (Duomo Di Bergamo)
The construction of this mononphous cathedral in the form of the Latio Cross was devoted to the Holy Martyr Alexander, the patron of the city. The cathedral, which accommodates up to 1,200 people, built at the end of the 17th century at the place of the old church of St. Victory. In the early 19th century, the Cathedral has changed significantly, in particular, the appearance changed the facade and bell tower. Exterior decoration is striking: Andrea's works have been kept here, Giovanni Batista Moroni and Giovanni Batista Tapolo - outstanding artists of Italy. In the Cathedral, services and liturgia are still held.

Cappella Colleoni (Cappella Colleoni)
A completely unique building of the Renaissance, built in the third quarter of the 15th century on the site of an old sacristy in honor of the saints of Bartholomew, John and the Baptist brand. In the first years after construction, Kapella was a personal temple of Konotyer Bartolomeo Colloni, a respected and rich man in Bergamo. In his style, Capella is very similar to the Church of the Virgin Mary, which is nearby - the same octagonal dome and multi-colored marble in the facade finish. Attracts attention primarily very beautiful chapel with a rose window, decorated with medallions with the image of Trajan and Caesar. At the top of the facade of the structure, you can see nine tiles with pictures on biblical motifs and 4 bas-reliefs depicting the feats of Hercules. From above there is a large loggia in the romance style.

Church of St. Augustine
The church in the Gothic style can be found in the upper city performed in the Gothic style. The church is not working, today there is a Humanitarian Faculty of Bergam University. The exterior of the cathedral is quite modest, strict. And the inner decoration is-crumpled and incredibly beautiful, in the style of lush baroque. There is also a unique organ, chapels of the Saints Augustine and Monica and beautiful statues depicting virtues. In general, it can be noted that the church combines several styles in themselves, as it constantly completed and reconstructed different architects.

Dam Gleno (Diga Del Gleno)
More precisely, its ruins in the vicinity of Wilminor Di Scalves, which is 65 km from Bergamo. Dam is a witness and a monument of tragic events of the beginning of the twentieth century. The dam began to build in 1920, but built it from not quite high-quality materials, and the dam project did not have the necessary accurate calculations. After three years, the dam launched. After a few months, at the end of the same year, during the incessant rains, the dam gave the crack and the waves began to flood the valley. Powerful stream erased from the face of the settlement of Buejio and Dezzo, almost four hundred people drowned. Damb did not restore, so, today you can come and look at the ruins of the dam. A small lake was formed between the walls of the structure, and a monument to the victims of the tragedy can be seen.
