Como It looks great at any time of the year, and therefore there are always tourists here. Thanks to a soft climate, in winter there is no sharp drops of temperatures and strong winds. In the summer, the cool breeze is most often blowing from the lake, because the air is wet, but warm. Mountains surround the town from all sides, so breathing here very easily and freely.
In winter, tourists come here mainly to the Epifan or New Year, when the city dress festive outfits from garlands and Christmas decorations. Huge pleasure delivers just to walk along a small streets and look at the storefronts of stores that are decorated magical way. All of them are unique and differ from each other with the style and variety of design. Often on the streets you can meet babies in carnival costumes, which congratulate passersby with the upcoming holidays. Some urban residents dress their dogs in carnival costumes, such as Santa Claus or a snowman, which especially amuses the kids. In December and January, the air temperature is about 10 degrees of heat, only occasionally the thermometer columns fall to 5 degrees, because in winter it is also possible to relax with the whole family.
The city comes to life and transformed with the first warm solar rays. Green lawns with bright colors, figures from decorative trees adorn city gardens and private yards.
Starting from the middle of March, navigation on the lake and helicopter walks, therefore rest during this period will be particularly interesting. In addition, in the very center of the city, not far from Duomo, there are fairs for the sale of handmade products from stone, wood and fabrics. Here for just 5 - 10 euros you can buy unique stands, figures of cats or owls, as well as clothes of tiny sizes for kids. Already in March, the air warms up to 15 degrees, because closer to the end of the month in the city you can walk without outerwear.
From May to October in the city you can find a lot of tourists who come from different parts of the planet. Most of them settle down both in the city itself and in the nearest small towns, from where you can get on our own transport, taxi or bus. In the midst of the tourist season, it is quite problematic to buy tickets and ride on the funicular in Brunate - you can simultaneously in line up to 3 hours, expecting an interesting walk in the mountains.
Vintage mansions or villas that act as museums are greatly popular, and therefore it will be calmly and slowly, it will be possible only from the moment of opening to lunch.
The hottest months is considered to be July and August, when the temperature does not fall below 27 - 29 degrees of heat. In these months, there is practically no rainy days and cold winds, because it is better to go with a child in Como precisely during this period. The whole family can be wonderful to relax in the city park or on the waterfront, in the shadow of centenary trees. If your vacation is planning in the fall, you should know that summer continues in the town to the middle of October. Only after October 20, the temperature drops to 22 degrees of heat and closer to the end of the month becomes very foggy. The very rainy is considered to be December and February, when there are not many clear days. In my last visit, many local residents told about the complaints of tourists, because of the rains (from December 2013 to February 2014) did not allow comfortably walking along the streets and enjoy the beauty of the ancient city.
As for prices for goods and services, depending on the season, they differ quite slightly. For example, in cafes and restaurants, prices for dishes and drinks are completely independent of the time of year and are unchanged. In supermarkets and stores, the cheapest goods can be found during the Christmas time, Easter and seasonal sales.
Prices for accommodation in hotels in the warm season differ not at all significantly - in some cases the price difference can be about 10 - 20 euros per day. You can save, booking a hotel in advance, because often the prepaid numbers are provided with a discount, the size of which is set by the administration.
