Very an ancient city on the Istria Peninsula, known since 1 century, today attracts crowds of tourists in the summer, to enjoy the waters of the Adriatic and the centuries-old history. We did not exception and visited Porec in September.
The two main streets of the city were laid during the times of the Roman Empire and were preserved to this day - Decamanus and Cardo Maximus. Despite the many years of war and attacks the conquerors, much of the ancient structures came to the present day, and pleases the eyes of rest. For example, it is worth paying attention to the Roman Forum of 1 B., Ruins of the temples of Mars and Neptune on the Marruof Square at the end of the peninsula, the Basilica of the Bishop of the Euphrage of Byzantine Times.
Porec is an excellent option of youth recreation. Many cafes and bars, nightclubs and beautiful promenade for walking. And here, as in any seaside resort, you can find active water entertainment for every taste. And around 50 tennis courts throughout the resort!
In my opinion, Porec is not the best place for the traditional beach holiday. There are no beaches with small sand and gentle entrance to the sea. I would not advise for recreation with children. These are beautiful lagoons and small bays. In most cases, pebble beaches or platforms with stairs into water. Central Beach - City Beach - with shallow pebbles and with all the necessary infrastructure. But more we liked Blue Lagoon Beach in a pair of km from the center with a shallow pebbles and a gentle entrance to the sea. Read completely
