Oulu is a rather major Finnish town.
It is located on the banks of the Ouluyoka River, flowing into the Batnic Bay. The city was founded at the beginning of the 17th century and this is one of the oldest cities in Northern Finland.

Cathedral Oulu (Oulun Tuomiokirkko)
Cathedral Sofia Magdalena stands in the heart of the city. This Lutheran church was built in 1777 and called the name of the Spouse of Swedish King Gustav III. Unfortunately, in the 20s of the 19th century, a fire occurred in the city, which pretty spoiled a wooden temple. It was repaired for about 20 years, and then, at the same time, attached a bell tower. The temple outside is quite rigorous, yellow walls and green roof and domes, not very high. Inside, the Cathedral is impressive by the body, the luxurious department, and, most importantly, the ship layout under the ceiling is to give an old tradition, when the sailors brought little ships to gain protection during long-range swimming. Well, how small, some and under 3 meters were!

Northern Ostrobothnia Museum (Northern Ostrobothnia Museum, Pohjois-Pohjanmaan Museo)

The building hosts more than 10,000 exhibitions and cultural events every year. Botanical Garden of University Oulu
This garden stretches at Lake Kuivasjärvi, which is in the north of the city. And this is the research "material" of the local university (Oulun Yliopisto at Pentti Kaiteran Katu 1, it stands there. The usual, and exotic plants grow in this garden. There are two powerful greenhouses of a pyramidal form for the most whimsical plants (for some reason these structures called "Romeo and Juliet").
In Romeo, you can see banana palm trees, lianas, cocoa trees, vineyards, coconuts. The greenhouse is in a height of all 16 meters, while "Juliet" is slightly lower, 14 meters, and citruses grow, olive trees, pineapples.
In addition, cedars, sequoia, ferns and orchids grow in the garden. In short, beauty and only - about 1000 species of plants!

Open-air Museum on Turkansaari Island (Turkansaaren Ulkomuseo)
The museum stands on the site of the old market and suggests admiring the old houses in which the peasants in the 17th and 18th centuries lived and learn more about their traditional fisheries. Total on the territory of the museum is about 40 buildings, including shed, lumberjack houses, baths (in black), courtyards, church and a priest's house (the most interesting "exhibits"), mills.
This museum has been working since 1922. Place colorful, interesting, sometimes festivals and holidays with ridiculous competitions are held here (type, run by floating in the river logs and so on). As well as, one interesting tradition is to burn the pits to pasture the resin in Ivanov's day. Plus, here you can eat and buy souvenirs.

Sailor House (Matila House)
One of the oldest buildings from the tree in the city. Earlier, this house was called in the people "House of Customs Liminka." He was erected here in the 30s of the 18th century, first in the city itself, and then he was transported to Pikisaari Islands. The Museum itself in this building and works from the end of the last century. The house has furnished furniture and household items of one navigator, Isaac Matyl. By the way, on the windowsill you will notice the two figures of the dogs. According to the traditions of those times, the dogs turned the muzzle into the window when the sailor made swimming, and when he returned home, the dogs looked inside. The museum has been working from May to September, from 10 to 16 hours.
Oulu Automobile Museum (Oulun Automuseo)
Even the museum from above resembles a car tire. The collection of the museum presents vintage cars, the most "ancient" date back to the 1910s.
