The city of Abakan is the capital of the Republic of Khakassia. And although this is a relatively young city, because he received his status only in 1931, yet the first mention of him in Siberian chronicles are among the very beginning of the eighteenth century. That is, by that period, when Russian pioneers built here at the site of the merger of two rivers Abakan Ostrog. Well, a little later, near this island, Ust-Abakanskoye village was founded.
However, the archaeological excavations produced here gave all the grounds to assume that the local territories were populated much earlier, because the remains of the medieval fortress were found on the outskirts. Thus, presumably people lived here at least for thousands of years. Abakan invariably attracts tourists with his mounds, caves, ruins of ancient settlements, mengirs, hakas lakes and numerous natural reserves.
First of all, in order to have a complete picture of these parts, you should go to the National Local Lore Museum named after L.R. Kyzlasov. Here you can get closer to get acquainted with the life and national culture of Khakassia. Here you can visit the most real yurt, see its interior, see national clothing and decorations, as well as household items. You can also get acquainted with very ancient local arts - with mengirors representing stone figures that were collected from different ends of the endless Khakassian steppe. Here you can see and incredibly valuable exhibits - a collection of rock paintings, various objects of stone, bronze and iron centuries, which were found among the ancient Khakass Kurgans.
Then you can go to the Museum of History of the Krasnoyarsk Railway, which is located right at Abakan stations. Here are so rare exhibits associated with the history of railways, which, perhaps, will not see them even in large museums of the country. There are many materials that tell about the construction of the Abakan Taishet branches, and also about the difficult fate of its builders. Many photos, collections of railway forms and all tools, layouts of old steam locomotives and even there is a layout of the 1926 sample station itself.
Another incredibly interesting museum of the city of Abakan is the "Hakassky Reserve-Center". Here it is described in detail about the main directions of the work of this reserve, about its territorial structure and of course mainly about his flora and fauna. There are a lot of colorful stands, stock footage and sculptures of animals, so you can feel like a wildlife in the lap and plunge into all its diversity.
In Abakan, the most unusual and amazing park of topics, which is called "Dream Gardens". It is the only one in Russia, although it was opened back in 2007 on the territory of the Preobrazhensky Park Complex. At its expanses, thirty gardens of a variety of topics are presented. Here you can see the Japanese garden, English lawn, alpine slides, shrubs and trees of the most fantastic forms, rare overseas plants, copies of sculptural works of masters with world name and even miniature Eiffel Tower.
You can also visit a very cozy and cute Landscape Design Park "Inspiration", which is located in the territory of the Montenegrin Park. Of course, it is much more modest than "dream gardens", but it is very comfortable and more or more oriented on family visits. Here you can not only walk with great pleasure, but also visit for example a cafe, sit in a gazebo or in a tea house. Children can jump on trampolines or ride bicycles, as well as play various games.
Of course, you should not regret the time and go to the Khakassian nature reserve, which occupies a huge area in more than 250 hectares. Its territory presents the most different types of terrain - mountain ridges, steppes, swamps and lakes. Well, of course, literally everywhere here you can see the most ancient settlements, caves, mounds and rock paintings, which are historical and cultural value. The most visited place in the reserve is "Ilaught" with medieval fortress, mounds and ancient petroglyphs.
No less interest is the salbskaya valley or as it is also called - the valley of the "Dead Kings". There are 56 Kurgans with the burials of the leaders of another bronze era. According to their cultural value, scientists compare them with Egyptian pyramids, in any case, if they are under them, then quite slightly.
