Aachen (or Aachen) is a small city in the west of Germany with a population of no more than 260 thousand people. This city is interesting in that it is located in a place where three countries are closed: Germany, Belgium and Holland.
His story Aachen leads from the Romans era. The city arose around the mineral springs, which he is still famous, and originally wore the name AquisGranum.
Since then, the city has rapidly grow up and today there is already aachen - a developed modern crowded city with many sights. In general, it seems that each part of the city of Aachen is a unique historical monument. Let's see where you can go to Aachen and what to see.
Aachener DOM
Incredible beauty Cathedral, which is also called the Imperial Cathedral. It is located in the heart of the city and is a symbol of Aachen. This cathedral is important in that the Roman emperors crowned in it many centuries. It is difficult to imagine, but the cathedral was built more than 1200 years ago! A completely stunning spectacle. The cathedral is rebuilt in the Gothic style. Inside there is a tomb of Charles the Great with relics, which is a huge octagon with a diameter of more than 30 meters. Not essential gothic choirs in the eastern part of the building (choir - emphasis on the first syllable is a balcony inside the cathedral, a peculiar open gallery, where the church choirs and organ) were placed. The cathedral is interesting for its old mosaics and sculptures. In general, come to Aachen and not to visit the Imperial Council, simply non-disabilities. By the way, the Cathedral is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, and one of the first.

Church of St. Peter (St. Peter St. Peter's Church)
Catholic Church of St. Peter is one of the oldest monuments in Aachen. It is mentioned in the sources back in 1215, when the church was a chapel. The church is small, but it seems to me that arrived in Aachen are simply obliged to visit there. The church is valid, it regularly hosts concerts, services, musical performances. Inside the church is simply amazing - all these vaults, statues, icons, windows - a complete pacification. It is considered one of the most beautiful churches of Germany.

Aachen Rathaus (Aachener Rathaus)
It is the building of the city government and at the same time, the most important monument of architecture of the historic center of Aachen. The town hall was built in the 14th century, many kings were crowned in it, then the town hall was repeatedly rebuilt, but today it is a beautiful building in the Gothic style with non-neutic statues of kings, spiers, frescoes (where paintings are depicted from the history of the life of the city and kings). Inside the Town Hall are the attributes of the imperial power - swords, crowns, and manuscripts. With the appearance of the town hall looks pretty gloomy - blackened walls, smoked statues, ancient fountain-filled, of course, produces the strongest. In the Town Hall Building, annually holds the international awards ceremony. Karl the Great.

About 200 thousand exhibits are collected here, for a temporary passage of five centuries, almost all languages of the world. All that is associated with the world of newspapers and prints, from the sources to the present day - everyone can see in that museum. In the museum, several rooms. Do not think that this is some kind of boring museum - there are many interesting things here, for example, a chaos room made in the shape of an egg or a "star room".
