Ischia is the island of volcanic origin, which is between the Neapolitan Bay and the Tyrrhenian Sea, 40 kilometers from Naples. For surprisingly picturesque landscapes, this island was called "green", and for the healing waters of unique hot springs - the "island of eternal youth and beauty."
Thermal Sources of Poseidon Gardens, located in Forio, in the Chip of the Chitara, are the largest complex on the island and are protected by UNESCO. 20 different open and closed pools with a unique water composition, underwater massage, a natural thermal sauna - all this will allow you to relax and well.
Surprisingly beautiful and picturesque gardens of Negombo in the Gulf of San Montano and the Gardens of Appollo and Aphrodites in Sant Angelo, they please not only the body, but also the eye. The main local attraction is the Aragon Castle, located on a volcanic island, protruding from the sea and connected to the case with a subtle carcade - artificially erected by dam. The castle was built on the site of ancient fort, and later was used as a defensive structure, the population of a whole city could have been hidden in whose walls. Currently, the Aragon Castle is a private possession, however, available to visit tourists. And the best reason for the visit here is the feast of St. Anne, celebrated every year on July 26, when bright shows and staging are held from the distant past. However, at other times there are regular holidays, festivals and exhibitions regularly.
Directly opposite the castle, in the town of Ischia-Ponte, is the Tower of Guevara. The fate is similar to the fate of the Aragon Castle - the tower was built on the foundation of the defensive structure and was intended to protect the castle. Guevary Tower is also called Michelangelo tower, because the Great Italian loved to stop here. In the 20th century, the tower was a refugee refugee, currently there is an exhibition center in it.
The defensive Torion Tower in Folio was also designed to protect the city from the sea. Nowadays, there is a museum and art gallery.
La Mortertle's gardens at the foot of Mount Monte Zao with lush tropical and Mediterranean vegetation were created thanks to the composer William Walton. Currently, there is a museum dedicated to him, and there is a concert hall in the evenings, concerts of classical music in the evenings.
In the bay of the Chitara is another Botanical Garden - Villa Ravino. Here is the most significant in Europe in the open-air cacti collection.
Sant Angelo is a small picturesque local village with houses and churches of all shades of pink and narrow cobbled medieval streets. The most beautiful views are open here at sunset.
The extinct Monta Epoomo volcano is the highest point of the island, an ideal place for photo shoots, because with its vertices (and this is almost 800 meters) there are magnificent views of the entire skeleton, the neighboring island of Capri and the Neapolitan bay. Here, right in the rock there is a small church of St. Nicholas, in the Middle Ages there was a supervisory point.
In the summer residence, Lukino Wisconti, called La Colombia, is a museum dedicated to the work of the great director. Around the villa is divided into a park available for visiting.
