Franciscan monastery
The monastery complex is located on Franziskanerplatz Street nearby Lech River. It was founded in 1628 and only 1803 the monastery, adorning a small hill, passed to the property of the Teutonic Order. Inspecting this place, tourists will certainly notice that all the buildings of the Franciscan monastery are decorated in a single style with the city. Economic buildings, brewery and residential premises with monastic cells are blocked by red tiles, and baroque garden decorate marble sculptures and intricate fountains. Going inside the monastic church, travelers will admire art creations with religious subtext. The Franciscan Monks still live in the monastery, and even have their own vegetable garden in the garden courtyard. They proudly show it to all visitors, acquaintance with all sorts of healing herbs growing in beds.
The walls of the monastery are located an ancient cemetery of Saint Sebastian, according to which everyone can stroll. If the acquaintance with the monastery will be accompanied by a guide or local resident, then tourists will be able to even listen to interesting legends associated with this cemetery and its old-timers.
Catholic Church of St. Nicholas (Krippkirche St. Nikolaus)
On the main pedestrian street of the city of Raychenshtrasse in the house number 27 there is a noticeable church with a white facade and arched windows. If not to look for this building purposefully, it can be easily passing by the Catholic Church. This construction is not at all rush at all, although an elegant treasure is stored inside it - a marble altar created by Dominicus Tsimmerman.
In general, the internal decoration of the church was performed very beautifully, the ceiling was painted with fresco, and a pretty angels and a gypsum stucco are banging on the walls. In the temple, tourists can carefully consider the missionary cross the work of the sculptor Anton Sturm and the ancient icons that were donated to the Church in 1717. And, of course, there is a statue of St. Nicholas, whose name is the church. Free to inspect the church tourists can any day.
City Hall
Considering that Fuussen is a small town, few of the tourists will surprise the fact that the city council occupies one of the buildings that previously belonged to the monastery of St. Magnus. Looking at a typical structure for the city with a decor in illusionistic technique, do not even immediately understand, then it is here that the city is managed. At first glance, it seems that this is another fabulous building with beautiful colors on the facade. And only coming to the closer, in order to make a couple of memorable pictures, it is possible to see the inscription that is notified of that this is a city town hall.
Monuments and Fontans Fussen
The sculptural decor of a colorful resort town is not limited to the fountain of St. Magnus. In this, tourists will be able to make sure of hiking around the city. Periodically, all sorts of monuments and whole sculptural compositions will come across travelers. So, on the Prinzregenplatz Square (PrinzRenplatz) Guests of the city will meet a monument to Luitpold - the once-ruling prince-regent of Bavaria. After the death of Ludwig's death, Luitpold took the brazers of the board of the country into his hands, and now his sculpture is in full growth in high pedestal in the middle of Fussen. Moreover, this monument to Prince Regent is considered the most "human" in the whole Bavaria.
During a further acquaintance with Fussen on one of the small areas, a slightly distant from the pedestrian street, a funny sculptural composition will appear before travelers, which performs the role of the fountain. The main characters of this bronze creation are three girls - one of them is sitting on the stones near the pool with water, reflecting on something important, and the other remaining splashing in the water, watering the legs from the watering can.
And it is also worth mentioning about the most modern, in my opinion, the city fountain. By the way, many travelers would start acquaintance with the sights of Füssen. The fact is that this original fountain is installed in front of the office of the information tourist center of the resort on Kaiser-Maximilian-Platz. It consists of stone pillars, on top of which rotating cubes are placed, splashing water directly on the paving bridge. On a hot summer day, there is very nice of this wonderful creation.
By the way, in the evening the fountain begins to highlight with lights and local youth is going to sit here, as well as tourists who delayed in the city.
Natural attractions of Füssen and Unusual Theater
Well, of course, one of the most unsurpassed attractions of Füssen is nature itself. And if you are exact - the Alps, the River Lech, the waterfall and the artificial lake of Forgensee. As for the mountains, they can be seen almost from anywhere in the city. On whatever street Fuusna, there are no tourists, the Alps will see from everywhere. It is so unusual and at the same time nice. Approximately the sensation is tested while loving Lech River. Despite the fact that the water in the river is cold enough even in the summer and it is impossible to swim in it, Lech fascinates with its unnatural color and rapid flow. Slightly above the river, not far from the historic center, there is a small waterfall. It is possible to walk in half an hour or getting on a bike. A good bicycle paths are laid along the river. The waterfall itself consists of concrete steps, according to which turquoise-matte water drops down. You can admire the waterfall from a special observation deck.
On the river below the flow, a dam was erected, due to which the artificial lake of Furgegensee was created - one more attraction of Füssen with the same cold and beautiful water. One bank of the lake occupies an unusual musical Theater Neuschwanstein (Festspielhaus Neuschwanstein). From this theater similar to it is characterized by a glass wall installed behind the scene. Through it, Lake Forentzee is visible, serving the main decoration in the sole musical of the theater. With the onset of darkness, the lake begins to be illuminated by spotlights, and everyone worsted is invited to the beginning of Ludwig II. The musical is in German, but the titers in several languages of the world are projected on the upper stage arc.
Presentation is made daily at 19:30, and on weekends there is an additional session at 14:30. The cost of tickets to the musical ranges within 20-100 euros. And yet, on Mondays the theater does not work.
