In the center of the square there is a monument to Huan Alvarez, and around him 14 muses that symbolize 14 provinces. On the square is full of people, even at night - in general, this is a famous meeting place. And during the day there is fun, especially when street musicians are standing on the square.
Government House (Cabildo (Town Council Hall)
A beautiful colonial-style building from the middle of the 17th century to the end of the 19th century served as a place to meet the government of the city. Today, there are two museums in the building - the historic Museum of the North (Museo Histórico Del Norte) and the Colonial Museum of Fine Arts (El Museo Colonial Y De Bellas Artes). These two museums are equally popular. The colonial exhibitions of religious and secular art are held, and in the historical museum you can admire the collection of vintage furniture of colonization times, old vehicles, coins and banknotes. In addition to museums, just pay attention to the building itself - because it itself is a wonderful monument! Unfortunately, after the reconstruction in the 19th century, the building was specifically rebuilt, and at the beginning of the last century, the Kabildo was destroyed at all (then, of course, everyone rebuilt again) So, how the building looked after the construction, we will not be brought to see. But today's appearance is very similar to the initial. Located this house next to Plaza 9 de Julio.
Capitol (Palacio de La Legislatura)
The palace stands directly opposite the Kabildo, and the area of July 9th shares them. Nearby you can see the city court building and Salta Cathedral. All these structures form a luxurious architectural ensemble, which, as if unites the church and the three branches of state power - executive, judicial and legislative. The Capitol Building (or the Palace of the Legislative Assembly) was erected in 1901. The palace is very beautiful, its facade decorate the stone figures of the winged lions. Impressive balconies and three huge arches, each of which represents one of the branches of power. The palace is just as good outside, as from the inside, where tourists can admire statues, columns and loggias.
Wine Museum in Cafayate (Cafayate)
Museum of viticulture and winemaking has been operating since 1981 in this small town about 2 hours from Salta. It was opened on the site of the old winery, working as many since 1888. So, today in the museum you can admire the interiors of that century. In the museum you can see also fixtures for wine storage and different pieces that were used in the process of manufacture of wine. The museum regularly hosts thematic exhibitions and excursions. As for the wine produced, it is prepared from the Vintage Torrons (Torrons), the only original grape variety of Argentina. A couple of years ago, novelty was added to the museum - multimedia displays appeared, which will help to understand all the complex processes of the wine industry. Also, here you can find a cafe and a store of souvenirs.
House Uriburu (Museo Histórico José Evaristo Uriburu)
This museum is a mansion, once owned by the family of two Argentine presidents. The villa was bought by Don José Uriburu in 1810 and with then simply passed to his heirs. The building itself was built in the 18th century in the colonial style, from bricks and tiles. Interestingly, the entrance from the street leads directly to the courtyard - then many buildings were built just like this. Family Uriburu lived in this house until 1947, then a year later, a museum and library were located in the building. This is a rather interesting place that will tell you how rich people lived in the 18ths and 19th centuries lived - in the museum you can admire the objects of clothing, furniture, more than 5,000 book volumes, etc. Also in the museum there are often exhibitions.

Escoipe and De La Cuesta Del Obispo Gorge
Mountain gorges in 3,448 meters high at the beginning of the Los Cardonese National Park (Cactus Park). And yes, there are really many cacti in the park and the spectacle is truly impressive! Cacti grow in the gorges in the form of such columns that reach the height of up to three meters. By the way, some cactus already under 300 years. Therefore, the gorges quickly covered myths - it seems like these cacti guard the mountains from strangers (and foreigners). In the gorges during the excavations found numerous remains of extinct animals, different exotic plants. Here, it seems like, somewhere even launched a trace of a dinosaur. In general, the place is valuable!
DE LAS CONCHAS (DE LAS CONCHAS GORGE)
The name of this place is translated from Spanish as the "Rakovin Gorge", and it is possible to find it if you go on the way from Cafaita to Salta (to Salta about two hours), in the Kachi area. The gorge of these is a very bizarre form, from red sandstone for the most part, but marks and other rocks are noticeable - the walls of the gorge layered, unrealistic. These formations reach a height of 100 meters! Do not worry, there is, where to leave the car (special parking lots are equipped) and viewing platforms. But the place is incredible, and it is exactly worth visiting.
Cardones National Park (Los Cordones National Park)
The park, about which I wrote above, is about 5 hours from Salta. The park occupies the territory of almost 650 sq. Km. Here and hills, ravines, and descents, and lifts. This territory is under protection since 1996. Growing on the territory cacti (varietal cardon) is already under threat of disappearance, because these plants are actively used to mining fibers. And in the park, yellow daffodils grow. Also in the park there are many animals and birds.
