In general, a fairly small Abkhazia is quite a large selection of nonetheless places in which you can spend your vacation. However, each of them has its pros and cons. Similarly, they are in the new Athos. There are a lot of small places in the republic with beautiful beaches and wonderful nature, but the main disadvantage there is that there is nowhere to go and therefore the entertainment and on excursions have to go to other cities in Abkhazia on excursion buses or rent a car for this.
One of the main advantages of the new Athos is the one that attractions here are so much that even if you look every one separately in one day, then they are enough for a whole week. Here one newaafon monastery is worth it! It is essentially acting, but it is in the process of infinite reconstruction. It's best to come here at sunset when tourists are already leaving with excursion buses to sit in silence, admire the sea and listen to the bell ringing.
Excellent walking time can be held in the Anacopian fortress with its guard towers, an inexhaustible well and the possibility of climbing the fortress itself. If there is a good weather, then Sukhum is perfectly visible from there. Also, do not forget about the Cave of Simon Channelism, about the Church, about the Blue Lake, the Museum of the Abkhaz Kingdom, the New Aphon Cave, the Railway Station of Psyrsha, about the waterfall on the hydroelectric station, and indeed everything is difficult to list. So every day you can make yourself a wonderful hiking.
Remove housing in the new Athos better either by the seafront, or on the central street, which is called Ashba. It starts almost from the waterfall, then runs next to the park, and ends right on the beach. This place is incredibly successful in all respects, because you will go to the sea through the shady alley of the centenary cypresses first, then in the park you will see the famous lake with black and white swans, as well as with ducks - a stunning beauty. Unfortunately, there are no swings and carousels there, but you can see the blooming magnolia and all sorts of great smelling plants.
Having passed through the park, immediately you get right on the central part of the beach, that is, to the area of the pier. On the left side of the pier is equipped in accordance with all modern standards the beach - with wooden tracks, umbrellas, sun loungers and cafes. On the right side is the beach simpler, however, is also very cozy - with canopies made of palm leaves, sun loungers and cafes.
So you can dine directly on the beach, and it is not necessary to walk anywhere, because there are european cuisine and a very tasty ear of the Black Sea fish, just brought fishermen. The choice is for every taste - here and kebabs from smoked mussels, cold beer, cocktails, ice cream, so there is something to choose. By the way, in June there are not many people on the beach, and the sea driver is very warm and clean.
As for entertainment on the beach, there are practically no of them. If someone refers it to the minuses, then many tourists on the contrary will take it to the pros. Some love just to swim far and for a long time, they are not at all suitable when aquaBakes fly with pulling exhaust gases stretching. In the new Athos, there are no problems with this, since there are no bananas, no catamarans. So you can swim as much as you want, where you want, and no one will go to you.
With meals in the new Athos, too, there is also absolutely no problems - there is a huge number of varied cafes, restaurants, canteens and aparts. These are such cafes in which only Abkhaz dishes are preparing. There are super modern among them, and with designer interiors, and there are cute with the national flavor. There are a lot of such institutions in the new Athos, therefore prices are adequate here. For a good dinner with a bottle of wine for 3 people, you will have to lay out from 1400 to 1700 rubles.
However, unfortunately, the recreation in New Athos has its own definite minuses. First, crowded even at no seasonal time. On the beach, in the park, in the catering establishments there are not too much, but it is next to any sights as a rule a huge number of people.
After all, the new Athos is essentially considered the most tourist destination in Abkhazia. So in the monastery and at that very famous New Athophian cave of vacationers are brought not only from the entire territory of Abkhazia, but also from the nearest Adler and Sochi. In the daytime, the city arrives in essence, a huge number of tourist buses. Well, about the marriage in July and August and speak at all.
We can also include the fact that in the spring and summer in the territory of Abkhazia there are practically no fruit or vegetables. Of course, there is a strawberry, cherry and raspberry, but they are sold at the same prices as in any resort of the Krasnodar Territory. Prices are almost the same, because everything is bought on one wholesale market. But for some reason, neither the cherries nor the plums, nor a pear in Abkhazia.
But practically near each house you can meet the corn defensions, because Mamalyga from corn flour is the main national dish. So, if you want fruit during a trip to Abkhazia, then you need to come in the fall, when their luxurious choice is presented. Well, at the beginning of the summer you can enjoy only Mushmule and a little later, the early grades of figs appear, everything else in Abkhazia is imported. Therefore, fruits are tasteless here, and at great prices.
What else can be attributed to minuses, so this is the fact that the locals sleep for a long time. For example, the canteens in the new Athos opened at 9 am, well, and all other catering options are even later. If you come to relax here from afar, and you can have a decent difference in time zones, and the hotel has no breakfast, then you better stock up in the evening.
Practically in the new athone to eat at 7 am unrealistic. The sun is already decently baked, and the locals still sleep about eight hours. So, if you want to even get out to buy mineral water, then note that until half the ninth everything will be closed.
Another substantial minus can be called obsessive tourist agents. The fact is that in the new Athos there are a lot of points for the sale of excursion programs. And even if you bypass them in a decent distance, they just will not miss you so much, and on the go make a huge number of proposals.
For example, go to the mountains or visit the Abkhaz feast, or go to the evening Sukhum. And what is the most interesting thing - in Abkhazia, even a huge selection of excursions in Sochi, to the Red Polyana, to the Olympic Park and even in shopping centers.
Then in New Athos there are practically no entertainment for children. The park has only a small platform for the smallest, but no tires, nor throwing darts, nor sweet wool, no such nonsense. That is, children do not even have the need to ask anything. However, children in the absence of swings with carousers and the Internet begin to meet each other, and entertain themselves well. What is certainly very nice.
