One of the most popular natural attractions of these places is the Cave of Homanthong, which are a complex system inside the same mountains. It can be said that inside these caves lives a sufficient number of animals and mammals, but still the greatest populations have reached the cockroaches and still bats. Well, right above the varnish caves is the most valuable thing that is in it - it is a swing nest.
Several times a year, local residents are engaged in removing the nest and it actually became some kind of local ritual, so a large number of tourists come to see this action. It was a rather well-known American writer, famous for the three autobiographical works about his life in North Borneo, that is, in Sabah, before the start of the war, during the Second World War and after her end. In these books, it is told about life in Japanese camps, which were intended for interned and for prisoners of war. In 1950, one of these books was even removed the feature film.
The writer came to Sandakan at a permanent residence together with her husband in 1930, since her spouse worked as the Keeper of Forests and part-time the director of agriculture, that is, a servant of the Government of the British North Borneo. During the war, the house was completely destroyed, and Agnes and her son were concluded on the island of Berchal to prison, and Herry's spouse was in another prison, located nearby. Subsequently, they were all internally in a camp, which is under Kuching. After the end of the war in 1946, with the help of government efforts, the house was restored. After the family went out of Sandakan, the house remained known as the house of Agnes Kit and the American writer memorial was organized here.
