I started my acquaintance with Greece traditionally - from Crete, the largest island of the country. Of all the resorts, the choice fell on Chersonissos - according to reviews, the most cheerful resort of the island. And it turned out to be true!
Clubs and entertainment
Chersonissos - a small town in the north of Crete, but he is the main part of the island. Life is here around the clock: the day of entertainment on the beach is a parachutes, bananas, in the evening there are numerous clubs on the street along the coast. If you come there only to walk, most likely, so just leave no longer work, you will definitely be set on some disco with a free cocktail or raising invitation. So it happened with me, it was impossible to refuse. But this is Chersonissos! Resting here and not go to the club is simply unreal!
Food
In addition to clubs, there are cozy Greek taverns on the embankment, where you can very tasty to dine with traditional Greek dishes.
I am a fan of Greek salad. What was my surprise when I ordered him and saw not exactly what we usually prepare in Russia. Brynza lay two large sacraments, and not small cubes :) I also ordered salmon on the grill - very tasty! A pleasant bonus was a compliment from the owner of the cafe - ice cream. Here we often treat desserts in addition to the main BDUDU.
Beach
In general, I first came to Crete for the sake of the sea and was not mistaken: it is very clean and worthwhile here. On the beach is a major sand. Umbrellas and chaise lounges are paid - 5 euros per day. You can leave the beach, then go back, no one will take them.
Excursions
Of course, it was impossible to do without excursions, because Greece is a country with a richest history and culture.
On a sightseeing tour of Creit, we looked at the Palace's Palace (one to the remnants), the historical museum and the Venetian fortress. Never forget the drag of the cycade over the Knos Palace! It was so loud that the guide was forced to crossed them. We also visited a pottery workshop, where you can make something with your own hands with the help of a master and buy handmade pottery.
I am indifferent to archeology and antiquity, so then there were only entertainment: evening excursion to the city of Rethymnon with a walk on a boat and a Cretan evening with traditional Greek dances and dinner. Of course, it is all a bit adapted for tourists, but the atmosphere is created excellent.
Heraklion.
Chersonissos is located just 25 km from the capital of the island, Heraklion. A regular bus is very often walking here. You can go walk around the city or sick. Follow the local SIM card with the Internet so that Google Cards were, it is a little difficult to navigate here - the names of the streets in Greek.
Souvenirs
Traditional gifts and souvenirs cheaper will buy in Chersonissos: olive oil and olives, cosmetics based on olive oil - what tourists usually buy. All here is excellent quality. But do not forget about the fact that the baggage advantage will have to pay extra.
Car rental
If you have rights, an excellent solution will rent a car in a couple of days you can drive around the whole island and see all its beauty. Nature here is incredible!
