In this amazing country, we stayed only three nights and four days. Of course, this is insanely little, because there are so many unique and stigmatically beautiful natural attractions that it is impossible to inspect even a couple of weeks. Moreover, the most interesting of them are on a decent distance from the capital. We were able to inspect only a small part of all this magnificence, but that turned out to be enough to remember this journey for life.
The first day we were devoted to acquaintance with Reykjavik. They wandered along the North-Atlantic Ocean embankment, photographed against the background of the famous sculpture "Sunny Wanderer", externally resembling whether the skeleton of China, or an unusual boat. However, judge for yourself:
Of course, they could not not visit the unusual church, which I my husband and I called "cosmic" with each other, since she reminded us of a rocket, ready to go to conquer outer space at any moment. In fact, as our guide told us, on the idea of the architect, this is not a rocket at all, but the most real wave. Inside the church, the design turned out to be quite simple, restrained, not overloaded with details, which have to think about the eternal and where every wishes can calmly think about what it is important for him, to communicate with the Almighty and put a candle.
The brightest and memorable turned out to be the second day of stay in Iceland - the day when we went on a tour of the "Golden Ring of Iceland". They saw the dress of the geysers and looked as Geyser Strokkur throws up a huge stream of hot water and steam up to a height of 20-30 meters. This is an unreal spectacle! And it repeats it every 5-8 minutes.
We went to a beautiful waterfall of Gulfoss ("Golden Waterfall").
True, the crowd of tourists prevented a lot to fully enjoy his beauty and power, this natural attraction is too popular. And yet, this waterfall is especially winning in the summer when a bright rainbow appears on them. We were in winter, but still it is unforgettable.
A visit to a huge thermal lake was also remembered, on the banks of which there is a bakery, in which the famous Icelandic volcanic bread is baked. The dough is placed in a saucepan and corner in the volcanic sand, where it is baked due to the heat from the volcano. Bought such bread home as a souvenir, it can be stored for quite a long time. Delicious, sweetish, I liked everyone.
In this lake, despite the fact that the ambient air temperature did not exceed 6 degrees of frost, people bathed! Water in it is warm due to thermal sources, on the shores are equipped with housekeeping houses. But we did not risk, although I really wanted, and there was little time.
This is not all that we saw during the excursion, there were still a lake in the crater of the extinct volcano, Iceland National Park Tingvellir, where some episodes of the "Games of Thrones", feeding small Icelandic horses.
On the third day they decided to go to one of the rackyavika thermal basins. Independent feelings: you sit on the neck in the jacuzzi with a water temperature of 40 degrees of heat or swimming in the warm water of the pool surrounded by Icelanders, all this is outdoors, the ears are frozen from frost, and you are warm and comfortable.
Summarizing, I want to note that Iceland is a trip to another world, just something unimaginable, but quite affordable. I highly recommend everyone at least once in my life in this fantastic country.
