Brest is a famous fortress, and not only.

Anonim

Brest is a city in the West of Belarus, at the very border with Poland. There are international automobile and railway border crossings. Before the border with Ukraine, it is also not far from here - only about forty kilometers.

The most convenient way to get on the bus or by rail. We drove from the Ukrainian town of Kovel - from there there are about five pairs of suburban diesel engines every day - one is lucky to Ukrainian customs, where the Belarusian "colleague" is already waiting. At the next station, passengers pass Belarusian border control.

At the station you can exchange money (hryvnia, Russian rubles, dollars, euros) to the Belarusian rubles. Better-in the branch of the bank, although there are also "change".

The main attraction is of course the famous Brest Fortress, which is located on the outskirts of the city (next to it, in the forest, are terrible signs "Border zone".

You can take a walk, but it is better to hire a guide (it is inexpensive).

And next to the fortress - a little-known railway museum. The entrance is quite funny money.

There are several dozen exhibits - steam locomotives, electric locomotives, cars ... Many are allowed to go. And I photograph - all the more, no problem.

And also from Brest on the minibus you can take an hour and a half to the famous Belovezhskaya Pushcha! But it is described in the relevant section of this site.

In general, the city of Brest I remember calm, neat and very cozy. Come - you will not regret.
