Saransk is in a generally very ancient city, located on the Middle Volga region. In addition, he is the capital of Mordovia. He was founded back in 1641, first as a military fortress, which was part of a fortified line, stretching from Belgorod to Simbirsk himself. But actually the status of the city as such Saransk received only in 1780.
The fortress, which gave the beginning of this wonderful city, was called Saransky Ostrog. It was located on the banks of the Insar River and at the same time at the mouth of the locker. From the name of this river and the name of the fortress, and later the cities that became the capital of the Mordovian Republic. In 1982, a memorable monument was established in Saransk, dedicated to the founders of the fortress on the place where its sentiment tower was located in the seventeenth century.
In 2006, the Cathedral was built in Saransk, consecrated in honor of Fedor Ushakov - the Great Russian Flotomod, who did not lose any battle during his lifetime. In 1995, a memorial museum dedicated to military and labor feats of our people was opened to the anniversary of the Great Victory in Saransk.
