Calyazin is essentially a fortress city, which is part of the so-called "Great Gold Ring of Russia". His story began in 1775. The city is divided into two parts - old and new huge water "mirror". To the most unfortunately in the thirties of the twentieth century during the construction of the Uglich reservoir, the trading area of the city and all the most vintage quarters were flooded.

So instead of the destroyed buildings had to erect new buildings. Well, the water divided it into two areas, which are connected to each other with a single bridge, perched through the river Zabnia, and not in the city itself, but beyond. But the construction of the reservoir and flooding of part of the city gave him the greatest landmark - the bell tower of the Nikolaev Cathedral, the only thing in the general building towers over the water stroy.

However, in addition to the flooded cathedral, several more churches have been preserved in the city. For example, the Church of the Ascension of the Lord, built in 1783. This unusual five-chapted construction combines elements of pseudo-gas and eclectic styles. The remains of the Rev. Makaria Kalyazinsky are stored inside the church and some outstanding city inhabitants are buried near the church.

But the holy-introduced church was erected much later - in 1882 for the means of one very God-fearing merchant Ivan Okhlobystin. It looks very and very picturesque - walls, isolated from red brick, give a bright contrast with golden crosses, green tents and azure masters. A completely ordinary two-story bell tower is adjacent to the church.

It is also worth looking into the local history museum of the city of Kalyazin, which is located in one of the parts of the structure, which previously belonged to the Early Epiphany Church, built in 1781. In addition to the objects of the people's applied arts of the eighteenth-nineteenth centuries, it is also possible to see the painting and the remains of the architecture of the Kalyazinsky-Troitsky monastery.

In Kalyazin, there is still a certain amount of old buildings and among them the former urban government is of particular interest. It was originally built at the end of the nineteenth century as a public house. This building was folded from red bricks and the observation tower was well preserved in it, which is also a part-time and a fire calane. Once there was a handicraft school here, then gendarmeria and then the Zemskoye stop. Well, now in this building there is a plain secondary school.

If you are interested in ancient icons, then you should look at the Museum-Manor of the priest Bulystin, who rules for service in the Nikolaev Cathedral. The estate was built in the thirties of the nineteenth century and now she is right on the banks of the reservoir. Inside, everything was preserved as it was during the life of Ivan Stepanovich Belystin, which besides the fact that he was the abbot of the church was also a publicist and an avid local person.

Unfortunately, during the flooding of Kalyazin, the Troitsky Monastery was keen on the territory of Russia, erected back in the fifteenth century. To date, only a small chapel, dedicated to the founder of the monastery Makaria Kalyazinsky, remained from all its numerous buildings. And in the city you can see the monument to the presence, made of bronze and installed on the means of citizens.
