In fact, Vladimir city is the most real open-air museum. The three main attractions are the Assumption Cathedral, Dmitrievsky Cathedral and the Golden Gate included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. And that is convenient - all almost the most significant sights of Vladimir are located very compact, so they are quite realistic to look in one day.
By tradition, Vladimir's guests begin to inspect the golden gate, which are considered a business card of the city. Before them, you can walk from the station on foot or drive up on trolleybus. You will not miss them in any way, because this wonderful structure immediately rushes into the eyes. In principle, the city independently without an excursion is quite simple, because there are signs everywhere with directions to the main attractions.
The golden gate was built in the twelfth century during the reign of Andrei Bogolyubsky. They were intended not only for defense, but also for solemn entry into the city. According to legends initially, they were covered with sheet gold, from here actually went their name. It is necessary to go inside the gate, because there is a very interesting museum telling about the history of the city.
In those long-standing times, a defensive shaft began in both directions, from which, unfortunately, only some fragments remained unfortunately. The most remarkable of them is of course the water tower, which is also mandatory to visit. Inside the tower is quite colorful, but somehow a homely cozy museum, which is fully dedicated to the life of the county pre-revolutionary Vladimir. Well, if you do not be lazy and climb up on the viewing platform, you are guaranteed the best view of the city and its surroundings.
From the Golden Gate and almost through the entire territory of the old town of Vladimir, a large Moscow street is held, which is considered to be a real pride of Vladimir. All guests of the city are waiting for a cozy cafe with restaurants, trendy shops and antique shops. On the same street you can see the vintage trading rows along with the woman's gates, inside which you can like hundreds of years ago to buy gifts and souvenirs.
Moving further along this street, you will just come to the Cathedral Square, which is the historical center of Vladimir. It is here that two monuments made by UNESCO in a list of protected facilities - Assumption and Dmitrievsky cathedrals, also built in the twelfth century. Between the Assumption and Dmitrievsky Cathedrals in Vladimir, there is another very important attraction - the complex of the Museums "Chambers" (the former building of the present places). The architectural style of the building is Russian classicism and the author of the project is the famous architect Karl Blank. On the first floor there is a children's museum center, and on the second you can see the canvas of the greatest Russian artists - Tropinin, Shishkin, Serov, Rockotov, Levitsky, Vasnetsova, Savrasov, Konchalovsky, Korovina and many others. Here are the unique vintage icons, the pearl among which is the work of Andrei Rublev "Our Lady Vladimirskaya."
Dmitrievsky Cathedral was built at the end of the twelfth century during the reign of Vsevolod a big nest. It is also a pearl of Russian architecture. In size, the temple is not too big, since it was built as a home church for the great Vladimir princes. Its distinctive feature is the unique white-chain thread, which depicts fabulous animals, wicked plants, various symbols and images of the saints.
Literally near the water tower there are wonderful patriarchal gardens. This place as if created by nature itself for walks and for rest. Their history began in the sixteenth century, they are arranged in such a way that from the high shore, Klyazma seems to be smoothly descending with terraces to the river itself. Three hectares occupied by the gardens are planted with fruit trees, shrubs, flower beds and girks with medicinal plants.
