In this review, I want to tell you about one of the main attractions of Latvia. If you ask the local one, which cost to visit outside of Riga, definitely most will offer you to go to Rundale castle. This is one of the top attractions of this country.
Our trip there took place within a beach holiday in the city of Jurmala, but the castle itself is located far enough from Jurmala, so it can hardly be attributed to the sights of this city. We traveled there for a taxi, and to negotiate with the driver I had to be individually, because not everyone agrees to go there. As it turned out, there are beautifully shops from Riga, so if you do not want to get on a large amount as we, it is better to come to the bus station and just tell the cashier where you want to go.
In fact, the complex in Rundale is not even a castle, it is a whole palace that was the residence of the favorite of our Russian Empress Anna Joanovna, Ernst Johann Biron. The complex was built on the project of the famous architect Bartolomeo Rastrelli, who was the most designed by Peterhof Palace, Vorontsov Palace, Winter, Smolny and still a number of famous Pyther's structures.
At the entrance to the castle (for those on the car) there is free parking. Next will have to take a walk on your own. But there is not far. A ticket, depending on the species, will cost you about 10-15 euros (children are much cheaper). You can buy on the spot, but I take it in advance on the official website of the complex, so you will save time on a simple checkout.
Palace, like the whole complex, is decent. In his interiors, many portraits of those who lived there and those who came to visit. The number of exhibits is simply impressive: furniture, decorations, various household items, paintings are hung everywhere. The exposition is rich in content and interesting in essence. Of course, there are a description of the exhibits exhibited everywhere, it is a pity that there is no audio guide. After a walk through the palace, again, if the ticket type you bought, which you can buy can be stroll through the luxury park in Versailles. For the Palace itself, lay an hour 2 -3, plus the surroundings inspection will take on you some time. If during this time you are hungry, then in the palace complex there is a restaurant and pieces of 2 -3 cafe, i.e. Place where you will find a snack without problems.
In general, the place is required to visit those who will relax on Jurmala beaches, or just come to Riga for a couple of days. On the Internet, this palace is often called Latvian Versaille and know how a person visited and there and there I can confirm that such a comparison is quite reasonable.
