What remains from the elite Soviet resort - the city of Gagra

Today I will tell you a little about your impression from the rest in the famous city of Gagra. We gathered in Gagra in mid-July, the weather for a seafood was more than appropriate.

The first disappointment overtook us on the border: huge queues and stuffing. When we still managed to get to the territory of Abkhazia, we were overtaken by the second disappointment: the lack of normal transport. The whole choice consists of poor minibuses or taxis. Prices for tourists are overestimated several times, so it is necessary to bargain!

Now a little about the advantages of the resort. First, a lot of modern hotels built in Gagra and is now being built. We just lived in one of these (Hotel Raid). The level of service is growing, and this can not but rejoice. Secondly, the beautiful sea and beaches. There are few tourists on the beach, no one bothers anyone, the water is azure, transparent, swim is a pleasure. Thirdly, Abkhaz landscapes. The sea and mountains are always a win-win option. Nature is gorgeous. You can visit many excursions dedicated to the natural attractions of Abkhazia, among the famous Lake Rice. Well, fourthly, wine! Wine can do here, and besides this, it is amazingly combined with the Abkhaz cuisine. At the same time, the prices for this drink are quite moderate both in stores and in restaurants.

But Gagra has its own negative sides. The first thing that rushes into the eyes is absolute destruction. Many buildings are abandoned and destroyed, the roads are broken, there is no normal infrastructure. Shops are all terrible and shabby, it is absolutely not what we are accustomed to, besides the range is very scanty, and the quality leaves much to be desired. In the city, electricity was constantly turned off, it was even for the whole day, the benefit of our hotel (as in some others) was a diesel generator who could provide the building with electricity. But in most stores and restaurants such "luxury" there is no, so the products are spoiled directly in the refrigerators, but no one throws them, but to come true to tourists. Hence the set of food poisoning. There are also water interruptions, but fortunately, in our hotel this moment was also taken into account. Well, in the end, the level of service is below the plinth. Neither in a cafe, or in restaurants, waiters do not know how to normally serve the guests, and in most establishments, 10% for maintenance is included in the account.
