My trip to Riga was spontaneous, but when they offer to go almost in vain, my suitcase is always ready. The city liked its atmosphere, friendly people, and quite low prices for Europe!
The old Riga has an incredible charm, takes his streets and architecture into the heart. Do not disregard the famous Peter Tower. At an altitude of 71 m, it contains viewing platforms with a magnificent view of the city.
If you turn to the right from the Dome Cathedral, you get to the colorful street of Jauniela, where they filmed fragments of films about Sherlock Holmes and "17 moments of spring". It seems that it is still a bright film decoration.
In each city there is such a statue, the loss that wishes are fulfilled. In Riga, this is the Bremen musicians. It is necessary to lose the nose, tail, paws of all four animals and if you are very lucky, sing with street musicians: "Nothing in the world is the best nenet, than to wander to friends in Belo Lightuu." We were lucky.)
Riga in summer is blooming streets and parks, stone sculptures and jazz melodies, coming from every cafe.
We walked around the narrow street of Riga - Rosen. Legends say that the rich ladies in lush dresses could not be broken here. Once there were wine cellars on it. One of them is atmospheric zucchini "Rozengrals". But the price tag there is quite high - about 35-50 euros for dinner. Therefore, we preferred to sit in the open café of the old city with a glass of pink beer.
And I also advise you to take a walk through the Great Central Riga Market and bring the home of the dried eel if the customs officers smell on the border do not study.) And in the souvenir shop on the street to buy amber beads, a magnet with the image of a cat and the Riga currant balsam.
And yet, if you choose in Riga for a couple of days, do not dwell only in the city, take a trip at least a couple of hours to admire the cold bastik and breathe clean pine air that we have done. We left south towards Estonia in the town of Lencka 20 km from the city and stumbled upon a wonderful beach with small white sand.
