Of course, the very first, where tourists go, this is the Pskov Kremlin. Attraction, which is probably invaluable. But walking on the right bank of the River Great, I could not not pay attention to the unique architectural masterpiece - the John the Forerovan Monastery.

This monastery is quite near the Pskov Kremlin on Gorky 1 Street, you can walk from the center of the city.

The monastery itself was built back in the distant 12 century and perfectly preserved to the present day. The building has very massive walls, simplicity and lack of decor, this is what rushes into the eyes from the very beginning. In Soviet times, the monastery was closed and partially destroyed, but the cathedral himself remained intact, and already in 1990 he returned to the ownership of the church.

It looks very unique. The six-pilot three-ripcid temple looks like, which is not at all like the rest of the buildings in Pskov, walking around the city I have not seen anything like that. Inside the fresco, mostly modern, the old painting has been preserved only partially. In general, the temple is very simple outside, but inside everything looks quite luxurious and beautiful.

Going inside, I was surprised that the half of the cathedral is almost a meter below the ground level. It turns out that the walls of the cathedral in the literal sense are recessed in the ground, because for many years the soil rose about a meter up.

I am very pleased that I visited this unique landmark, because it is vividly stand out among the other architectural masterpieces of Pskov.
