Thessaloniki is a Greek city, the second largest in the country. Thessaloniki is the first city in Greece, which I visited. The first impression was somehow mixed - good and slightly incomprehensible. A special fuss was going on in the city, for which it was interesting to observe.
In general, thessaloniki seemed to me a fairly modern megalopolis. First of all, I had such an opinion because of the noise and bustle in it, over time, spending more time in the city, I realized that there are a lot of modern streets in the city, buildings that "close" by the Greek sights, which, like I expected, there will be a lot.
When I went to thessaloniki, I expected to see a lot of ancient Greek attractions, I expected that I could plunge into the history of ancient Greece.
Not forgotten impression left evening walk along the embankment. Beautiful sunset, a pleasant breeze, along the entire embankment, and it is not very short, there are different tents with goodies, such as - boiled or fried corn, ice cream. You can take a bike to rental, although it seemed to me extremely not necessary and uncomfortable. The embankment is quite narrow, and the people walk a lot and constantly on the verge of clashes with some cyclist, which is also uncomfortable. True, the pedestrian walkway is separated by a white strip from the cyclehead, but it helps it little. With the onset of the evening, the most "moving" is on the embankment, although the Day of the people there is plenty there.
In the center of the city, on one of the squares, there is a monument to Aristotle. In order to take pictures next to him, you need to gain so much patience that not to convey words. I do not know why, but local youth loves to relax sitting on this monument, some of them belong with understanding and make it possible to take a picture, and some build faces, they say taking pictures with us, it was by the way one of the unpleasant moments. People there are still some kind of arrogant, although there are also polite, friendly.
An observation deck in Thessaloniki I was impressed more than the rest of the city. Views from her are awesome, I spent a few hours on it, making selfie and ordinary photos. There, there can be different souvenirs nearby, I really liked a wide selection of magnets and key chains.
