In the Colosseum in the footsteps of Roman gladiators / Reviews of excursion and sights of Rome

We were going to visit the Colosseum right away when they planned a trip to Rome. More at home via the Internet I bought tickets in the Colosseum and was very pleased when I saw what a huge queue we managed to avoid.

In the Coliseum, like almost everywhere in Rome, you can take an audio guide in Russian. I always try to take audio guides, I believe that it is much more convenient than inspecting sights as part of the group. The audio guide is not expensive, only 5 euros, and offers a very detailed story about the history of the Colosseum. In addition to the famous battles of gladiators, a very large-scale show was held on the arena of the Colosseum, for example, the installation of sea fight by technical means that were possible in ancient Rome. And now in the Colossee, it was preserved enough, so that it was possible to imagine how everything was organized, from where gladiators appeared. You can see the premises under the arena, where the preparatory work was held.

To get around the entire Colosseum, you need 3-4 hours, the best time to visit from opening to lunch. At this time, tourists are not very much, and it's not too hot outside, it must be borne in mind that the Colosseum is open-air.

We were in the Coliseum on the Spring Vacation, at the end of March. Warm, sunny days were standing, it was possible to walk all day in a light jacket. The most necessary accessory for us in the colier has become sunglasses.

Before visiting the Colosseum, I advise tightly breakfast. There is no cafe or restaurants on the territory, only a pair of mobile cafes selling pizza, hot dogs and tea, takeaway, is only a pair of mobile cafes. Nearby, however, there is a very pleasant coffee shop with wonderful desserts and delicious coffee, the panoramic windows overlook the Colosseum.

If a well plan to plan an independent tour, then visit the Colosseum can be no less funny than a visit to the group with a professional guide. We loved my spouse, and even our eleven-year-old daughter was delighted. And the photos are just above all praise!
