Last fall visited the city of Rakhov, a small town of the Transcarpathian region. The city is special because it is the Geographical Center for Europe. The city itself is very conveniently located, 40 km to the resort Bukovel, 50 km from the village of Solotvino, in which the treatment and wellness resort is located with salt lakes, is very useful for those who suffer from respiratory diseases.
We live in the south of Ukraine, so I traveled to Rakhov in two stages. First by train to Lviv, and then by train to Rakhova. Rakhov, a small town, but the railway station in it is.
The city of Rakhov is surrounded by mountains from all sides.
He is the administrative center of Rakhovsky district, the population is about 16,000 people.
The city has a small bazaarcik, many shops with Ukrainian folk costumes, embroidery, hutsul vests, sheepskin blankets, carpathian souvenirs, etc. Also in the city there are many temples and churches, in most Catholic.
We lived in a hotel, which is called, like the city of Rakhov. The price for accommodation was 420 hryvnia for the room (Junior Suite, with a balcony), the number of the 3-seater, we were settled together, did not take additional fees.
To eat went to the cafe on the roof hotel, the look is simply awesome. Reasonable prices, serving soup with meatballs costs 11 hryvnia, fried potatoes with chicken wings - 44 hryvnia, a cup of coffee - from 20 hryvnia.
Also in this building there is a pizzeria, pizza bake on firewood.
You can get to the geographical value of Europe in Europe as follows - to take a bus to the neighboring village and the driver will tell you where to get out. Ticket price - 10 hryvnia, or take a taxi.
Near the geographical center there is a Kolyba-Museum, which contains all Ukrainian attributes.
Also in the Kolybee-Museum you can eat and drink a cup of carpathian tea (20 hryvnia), baked trout and Ukrainian cornpad "Banush" will cost you in 130 hryvnia.
I also want to note that the center of Europe is a small iron point in the ground,
And next to the beautiful steel stele is located, so many people do not know where in fact the center of Europe and take pictures near the stela, and not seeing the real center!
You can also go to the trout farm, although it is difficult to name it, the closed area with pools in which the trout swims, but the fish can be bought - 130 hryvnia per kg.
Not far from Rakhova is the Museum of Mountain Ecology, the entrance is free. Very good place to relax and walk. Wonderful nature, grows a lot of ferns, mountain mint, from the ground beaten the keys of the mountain purest water.
In the town itself you can buy Romanian coffee, as Rakhov is almost on the border with Romania. The sale of blueberries is also very common, it is collected in the mountains.
And you can also buy home Carpathian wine - 35 hryvnia for 1.5 liters.
The city of Rakhov, though small, but rest in it is very interesting. In the fall, you can see how mountains are soldered, which are preparing to be covered with snow. Carpathian forests are filled with the purest air from which the head is spinning. Therefore, I highly recommend visiting this wonderful city, strengthen health and get a charge of cheerfulness and positive!
