Cathedral of the Holy Family in Barcelona - Eternity frozen in stone

In December 2014, my husband went on a working trip to Spain, and took me with him.

Before that, I have never been to Barcelona, and I was happy to study local attractions and just wander around the narrow Spanish resort streets, at least December for this city is not at all resort.

The weather was excellent, the temperature did not fall below plus 10 degrees, while we had a snow porridge in Ukraine and zero temperature. Hence, the conclusion that for Barcelona there is no bad or broad-year-old season - the sights always work, cafe is welcome to your visit, and the hotels will provide you with a free number. True, they say that in June-August with free numbers there may be tens.

You can talk a lot about the sights of this unique Spanish city, in which Antonio Gaudi, the greatest sculptor and an artist-abstraist 19th century, which is also an Estimate Christian, lived and worked. For us, great luck is that in 1891 he was appointed chief architect of the city. A lot of buildings are marked by his talent, and they are bright and originally stand out against the rest of the rest, not boring.

But in this revocation it will be about the creation of his life, which, alas, he did not have time to finish. Moreover, it is not completed so far. The Cathedral of the Holy Family made me the most indelible impression, perhaps, from everything I saw in my life ...

The most famous temple of Europe amazing the imagination of the tourist. Above Barcelona, as a huge cave with stalactitis-bell tower, he rises, completely hitting the yawak of height and splendor, even being in the scaffolding. Gaudi improvised for many years and worked at the construction site of the cathedral, since he did not leave a detailed plan of construction. Its new and new ideas for sure seemed strange at the time, leaning elements of mosaic, sculptures and bas-reliefs, polygonal bell tower and glazed tiles. Being a deeply religious person, he treated the Cathedral as a living being, which, like any animal at liberty, should grow naturally and without restrictions.

When you look at Barcelona from the observation deck of the cathedral, captures the spirit! Here, see for yourself.
