My husband and I are fans of an unusual rest, so none of our acquaintances were surprised when we decided to celebrate the New Year in the Maldives. The choice fell on Raa Atoll, who, according to the tour operator, is simply created for recreation lovers. To order a tour is standing in advance, and come better not on the eve of the New Year, but a little earlier, otherwise there may be problems with the settlement.
At first, we were waiting for a flight to the capital - Male, and then we were taken to Raa Atoll on a small hydrosapollet. I fell in love with this island at a glance. We settled in a house that stood just in the sea.
Breakfast on the terrace, we often seen fish floating in the water, and in the distance it was visible as dolphins. Swimmed in the sea, I often saw the skates and very friendly little sharks.
The beaches here are very clean and there are always no one for them. White and very small sand almost did not heat. The sea has always been calm. Sometimes a lizard or crab can be run past.
Rest on Raa Atoll is different from recreation on other seaside resorts. There are practically no excursions here, except for the boat trips to the places where mantans are found (huge rods) or trips to the capital on the hydrosapol. But they are not needed, here and so not boring. I consider diving. Nowhere, I have not seen such wonderful marine species.
My husband really liked the fishing on the boat. Although he did not catch anything, the locals who fished with him, gave him a caught barracuda.
Right at the hotel had the opportunity to rent for $ 20 a day a bike, which we gladly took advantage of them and traveled on them the whole island. During trips, we made sure that the local population is wonderful here. During one of the walks on a bike, I drove onto a stone and fell. To make sure everything is in order with me and help us, everyone who was near, which was very nice, though I did not suffer at all.
I have separate impressions from local cuisine. Prices in restaurants are essential, but, given the quality of food, I can't call them overestimated. All dishes are really very tasty. In the hotel we provided only breakfasts, which, by the way, for two weeks of rest, have never repeated and were very tasty. But we have dinner and dined in local cafes and restaurants. My favorite dish was the tuna in coconut milk sauce. One serving costs $ 14. From the desserts I was conquered by a rice and fruit salad for $ 8.
Some restaurants were offered to the dishes of truly Maldives. We even tried fish, but remained unhappy - a very, very sharp dish, which is simply impossible.
With alcohol in many restaurants, problems, but for us it was not the inconvenience, but many other holidaymakers were very indignant.
What success we use nightclubs among young people, tea enjoyed success here. Tea here is really very good and cheap. For one cup, on average, we gave 3-5 dollars.
Night clubs here are also there and we even visited one once, but not impressed absolutely. The music is very peculiar, no ventilation, so it is very stuffy indoors. From the proposed beverages, most of the alcohol, which bartenders do not regret. Having stayed less than an hour, we returned to the hotel.
As on any rest, it did not cost without unpleasant surprises. I would never have thought that there are places where so many ants. They were everywhere - in restaurants, in the room and even on the beach. Another minus - the air conditioner in our room was installed directly opposite the bed, so it was not possible to turn it on for the night. To us to cool the room, I had to leave the room to not blown.
More minus - walking on a bike, we were not able to drive everywhere. It happened that the road was fallen by the fence, followed by the villa. The villas here, by the way, a lot and their owners are not particularly hospitable.
If not to take into account the minuses, then rest on Raa Atoll can be called Paradise with confidence. I will be happy to go here yet.
