Firstly, in almost every everyone, even a breakfast guest house (and there are not a lot of such here) there is a restaurant or cafe (or at least prepares the hostess / owner for their guests), and, secondly, there are separate restaurants. "Barnes Hall"
(at The Grand Hotel Nuwara Eliaya)This is a restaurant at the Grand Hotel Nuwara Eliaya, but not only guests of this complex can be visited. Restaurant of international cuisine (just a little) with a luxury atmosphere and colonial chic. The hall of the restaurant is equipped with great - elegant chairs with soft sideways, white tablecloths and napkins, laid out, as expected, candelabra. Prices, although slightly above average, in principle, adequate. A good choice of dishes is one of the best buffets in the country (but something and on request - I advise you to try the steak!). First-class service (although, of course, you can always find what to complain about).
SALMIYA ITALIANO RESTAURANT
(Badalla Road, near Stamford Star Hotel and Colling Wood Hotel)Completely different in the atmosphere restaurant, if compared with the previous one. There is tasty and inexpensive. Many people like even more than in Barnes Hall. Outside the restaurant looks pretty unpretentious, if not to say - it's bad (straight like a garage!), But let it disappear and does not frighten you, because there is a chic pizza and not only. Alternatively, you can try curry, hot dogs and other simple feed dishes. Stunning mistress, smiling and hospitable. If you are a little tired of local food, then you are exactly here!
"Grand Thai"
(on Grand Hotel Road)As already clear from the name, it is a restaurant Thai cuisine. So what? Variety should be! True, if you really understand the Asian cuisine, then maybe you will find what to find face-in the rest of the food here is wonderful. The restaurant personnel speaks well in English and is always happy to chat if there are no other visitors, of course. Plus a beautiful interior. Prices sometimes even ridiculous, and even with a chef, you can negotiate about some of the desired dishes (as part of a reasonable and thai). In general, the choice of food is small, but a pleasant place. And if you have a birthday, then you will most likely pop out a piece of free cake!"Bluefield Tea Restaurant"
(With Blue Field Tea Factory, 40 minutes from the center of Nuwar Elia)One of the best Srilasky buffets. Well organized, clean and unpretentious restaurant with very helpful and polite staff. In addition, at lunch you can enjoy the most beautiful Srilakky tea (rather, even with different varieties) and the type of tea plantations and the mountains - well, where else do you experience?
"Grand Indian"
(Grand Wanted Road, Landmark on The Grand Hotel 4 *)Restaurant Indian, Asian and Srilasky cuisine. Fans of the first will be completely happy, because everywhere a lot of curry. It can be said that the kitchen most often is a portion of rice and to her choose different additives in separate beautiful plates. The restaurant is quite popular - often the tables are all busy tourists, judging by conversations, from all countries of the world. There is sometimes quite difficult to get here - by 6 pm (when the restaurant opens) a lot of people are going, which literally attacks the tables, so I recommend it to take a queue in advance. Accordingly, expect long orders (in a high season for this area - nothing surprising). At the same time, the area of the restaurant is rather small (approximately 60 sq.m.), and no more than fifteen tables fit on it. The restaurant is quite cozy and with beautiful furniture, even children's chairs are combined with a common interior. Everything is somehow without pathos, but at the same time on a high aristocratic level. It is nice to hide in a rainy evening and admire the glass windows over the wall on the fog outside the window. By the way, the beer is expensive here - about 600 rupees plus 10% (but in general, it is one of the most inexpensive restaurants). The choice of drinks is small.
"Coffee Bar"
This is perhaps the best coffee shop of the city. Really good coffee feed (although the fan of a coffee maker recommend adding a double portion of espresso to any coffee). Delicious strawberry muffins and eclairs, nice design hall, low prices. Great place for afternoon school!"TEA Factory Hotel Restaurant"
(at the hotel Heritance Tea Factory Hotel)Excellent place, for example, for birthday or romantic dinner. Magnificent service and excellent food (although not traditional Srilaskaya) for an acceptable fee (plus large portions). Seafood is very thoroughly decorated, and the hotel-restaurant itself is in a very picturesque location overlooking the mountains and tea plantations. Despite the fact that the place is not in Nuwar Elia, you can come here specifically. The restaurant also offers a small selection of teas and an excursion, within which you will demonstrate and explain the process of transformation of leaves in tea (more interesting than on Factory Mackwoods).
"SRI AMBAAL"
(on New Bazaar RD, near Nuwara Eliaya Golf Club)The restaurant of Indian and Sriskysky cuisine. Vegetarian establishment, food quality is good and the price is suitable. The menu is small. The restaurant is very small, so if you arrive here in the "Hour Peak" may have to wait.
"Magnolia"
Grand Hotel Road)Very pleasant restaurant of international cuisine. More precisely, it is a coffee shop. In general, Nuzara-Elia is a tea country, so to meet good coffee here - a true rarity and great joy. Coffee, of course, not local, but for coffee makers it has no matter no matter: feel the fragrance of this drink in cool evenings (and they are rather cool here) - real buzz! The restaurant has a small confectionery, as well as simple local dishes are offered. Of the minuses: Slow service, waiters and not understanding English.
Railway Carriage Restaurant
(Heritance Tea Factory)A small restaurant can accommodate only 16 people - so, the reservation is necessary. And the old train will be offered to you in the old carriage. You will be met by the administrator in Oldskal Livreye - he will also make sure that the wine in your glass does not end. Food is mainly European, tasty.
