Aqaba is a small city in size, so its main attractions are located near each other, and by the power to go around on foot.
It is better to start walking around the city with its embankment running along the bay. On the right side (if you go to the side of the port), you can observe urban beaches and some kind of gardens with palm trees.
On the left side immediately rushes in the eyes of a beautiful white structure with a dome - this is the main mosque of the city of Al-Sharif Al-Hussein Bin Ali. It was built on all Muslim canons in 1975, and in 2011 it was thoroughly restored and updated. In the dark, the mosque is beautifully highlighted.

If you go further, you will certainly notice a flagpole, which, oddly enough, is considered one of the main attractions of the city. His feature is that it is among the top five in the world of flagpoles. The height of the spire is 130 meters, it is complicated from eleven sections, the diameter of the lower - 0.261 m, the top - 0.106 m. A huge cloth (30x60 meters) of the "Arab revolution" flag is treated (30x60 meters) (not to be confused with the Jordan flag). The flag is noticed by Egypt and Israel. On the days of national holidays near him, all sorts of cultural events and demonstrations are held. Aside from the flagpole, there is a cozy Square with fountains and benches, where you can hide from the heat.

Among the historical monuments of Aqaba, the Fort Mamlukov may cause the greatest interest. It was erected in the Romans in order to protect the port, subsequently rebuilt the fort several times. Now it is a conservation of a square form, which occupies an area of 250 kV. m. At the corners of the fortress there are symmetric round towers, and there are still medieval Islamic written on its walls. Fort is available for visiting tourists.

The north-west of the center of Aqab is located excavations of the ancient Islamic settlement - Ayly. It originated on the site of a modern city somewhere in 650, but there are legends that tell me that people here were built in biblical times. Ayla stood at the intersection of trade routes from Asia to Africa and Europe. Today there is little from the city, but nevertheless excavations are still underway.

Many artifacts found by archaeologists in ancient Ayle are stored in the Archaeological Museum, which is located near Fort and flagpole. The museum is easily recognizable by styling under the medieval castle. It was opened for visitors in 1990. It presents all sorts of decorations, ceramic products, coins, and others. The oldest exhibit is dated 4000 a year BC.
Among other things, in Aqaba, you can also visit the sea park, created in 1997 to preserve the coastal underwater fauna and flora. On the territory of the park there are five sandy beaches, perfectly suitable for family holidays. There are also exhibition space, a hotel with a restaurant, a marine sink museum, diving center.
