Is there a restaurant and bars on the island that do not belong to the hotel complexes? Of course, yes. More information about those establishments in which we must attend at least once, even if you arrived on Redang in a package "All Inclusive". As well as a few words about resort restaurants.
"AIMA GRILL FISH RESTAURANT"
Where is: in the village, near the Berjaya Beach Resort
If you are looking for an alternative to the hotel in the hotel (especially in the expense of The Taaras Beach & Spa Resort 5 *), go to Aima's Restrant. Despite the rather unpretentious appearance of the restaurant, they are prepared on rarity tasty there, and the menu is diverse - with a wide selection of fresh seafood. Prices are also pleasantly surprised: a plate of mussels - only 15 ringgitis, a plate of large shrimp grill-30 ringgitis. Do not rush order rice - in this restaurant, the side dish brought only on a separate order, and not automatically. And even in this restaurant smoke, so if you do not want to connect smoke, sit down to the fans closer.
"Chengkih Pool Bar"
Where is: 77 & 78, Pantai Pasir Panjang, in the central part of the eastern side of the islandThis beautiful pool bar is opposite the beautiful beach. You definitely do not pass by, because there is a tower next to the bar, the highest in the vicinity. As a rule, tourists look here in the evening behind a couple of cocktails or day after a cup of invigorating coffee. Indeed, in addition to beautiful relaxing species, there are also good amenities, and bartenders entertain their guests juggling with bottles and jokes. By the way, sometimes in the season in the evenings there is a fire show. It is nice that the prices in this small bar are quite adequate, and the choice of cocktails, juices and beers is good. It can be said that this is the same thing that the restaurant, but it is still very quiet and romantic. But no more.
"HAZEME SEAFOOD RESTAURANT"

Another decent alternative to the expensive restaurants in the hotels of Taaras or Beach Resort. Even if the hotels in these resorts are satisfied with you, still try to dine and here - after all, this is a place with a real atmosphere: simple strong round tables, a little corned benches, carved cornices, a bright fence! Extremely simple and pretty. The food is also good, something even causes admiration, but something could be better - as in any other restaurant. It's amazing that the prices are quite adequate - about the same as on the mainland, and two times lower than in the restaurants of The Taaras Beach & Spa Resort resort (from this hotel to the restaurant for about 10 minutes walk). Be sure to try Ikan Bakar in this place (grilled fish). Two servings of such a fish together with squid, chicken and sateat (pickled chicken kebabs) can be ordered in just 75-80 ringgitis. Many employees of the restaurant are spent fluently in English, because this restaurant is often visited by Europeans and Americans. Behind the restaurant is a mini-market where snacks, drinks and some industrial supplies are sold.
"Asmadi"
Where is: A-8 Jalan Masjid Kamoung Baru, 600 meters from The Taaras Beach & Spa ResortThis hotel is located in the "depth" of the island, close to the mosque. A great place for late lunch in the event that Taaras prices are not affordable for food. Go along the road (from the hotel will take no more than 10 minutes) to the signboard Klinik Kesihatan. The restaurant is on the right of the signboard, next to the restaurant Hazeme Seafood Restauraan, about which I wrote above. The menu in this restaurant is good, and the prices are available. Plus a gorgeous setting - almost in the middle of the jungle! The restaurant itself is small, clean and pleasant, and fully reflects local traditions.
"Kayu Manis Restaurant & Bar"

The restaurant is quite large, but always quite quiet and some intimate, cozy. Really high service and helpful waiters, however, orders are barely longer than I would like. Maybe not the most cool restaurant for a five-star hotel - so do not come here with overestimated expectations. Just a pretty such restaurant of Asian and European cuisine.
Bayu Bar
Where is: at the hotel The Taaras Beach & Spa Resort, the north side of the island
Well, finally, and about food in this expensive hotel. Well, we must pay tribute: to drink open-air cocktails in the beach bar, admiring views of the blue sea - invaluable. The bar serves exotic cocktails and snacks throughout the day. The deck of the restaurant is quite spacious and in order to lie on the couch and pass the time to sunset, slowly shook pizza, meza and other typical beach food.
Food Court Hotel Laguna Redang Island Resort

"Sandfly Cafe"

The traditional little beach restaurant is an excellent solution for lunch or lunch. Do not pay attention to the ridiculous name of the restaurant, which means "Mosquito cafe". There are no mosquitoes here, of course, and they certainly do not add them to dishes. Located on the beach of Pasir Panjang, a small Chinese restaurant-coffee shop does not manit bright (and generally noticeable at once) signs. It is possible to understand what the restaurant is here, you can only, perhaps, on the menu with the "Sandfly Cafe" header. The menu, by the way, is not bad - an excellent selection of local favorites and some Western options. A small veranda with five round tables and plastic chairs, a few meters from the sea pleases the most at sunset - views are awesome! Well, prices are also pleased: for example, a dish of Nasi Gorenga (fried rice) is there are only about 7 ringgitis, shrimps with sweet or sour sauce - RM15, fish - from RM10, hockey (egg or rice noodles with egg, pork slices, shrimps and squid and vegetables) - 6-7 ringgitis, chop from a grill -RM20 lamb. Also in the cafe you can enjoy the beer Carlsberg or Tiger.
