Perhaps the main thing that is worth stocking before the trip to Lublin is the schedule of festivals. In Lublin, events are followed by one one, but it is worth getting between them - and you will see a sleepy provincial city.
As any place of Central Europe, he is good in his own way at any time of the year, but perhaps the most interesting in the fall, in the spring and in the period of Christmas festivities.
Advent fairs - a few weeks before Christmas - this is a series of concerts on open-air squares, exhibitions, sales, dancing, tastings. However, to be in any Catholic country in Christmas itself can be quite boring experience, because for two days - the eve of the holiday itself - the city is dying out, the shops are closed, cafe do not work: everyone spends time with families.
In the spring, all the most interesting events are confined to Easter. In April-May, the Tempus Easter festival is held in Lublin. In the city there are concerts of vintage songs, and soloists come out not only from the whole country, but also from abroad. In parallel, the exhibitions of paintings are held. Special attention is paid to the spiritual component of culture, and not only the Catholic, but also Jewish, and Orthodox. In April, the city also holds Lublin Jazz Festival. His mission is to integrate the heterogeneous style directions of jazz movement. In different years, Tomas Stanko, John Skofield, Ken Vandermark, Dave Douglas, Hamid Drake, Martin Maetsky.
In the summer, here is also very interesting. So, in July, the city takes the festival of small theaters and the Festival "Mages" - masters of illusionist circus art. However, it can be understood that in the midst of summer, few people want to be located far from the sea resorts, in the area, where in recent years the heat is very strong and unpleasant, so I will not talk a lot about the summer Lublin festivals.
In November, in Lublin, the Festival of Independent Movie "Golden Murant", the festival of Ukrainian culture, international meetings of dance theaters and much more. I was lucky to get to this city in September, when the festival of a young cider was like on his streets. Contests, concerts, exhibitions of paintings directly in the windows of the Old Town - all this was great, however, the nail of the program became, of course, tasting. Any alcoholic drink is a product of the area, so the Lublin Cider needs to be drunk in Lublin, with me all these impressions are almost impossible.
