Warring town in northwest Russia.

Veliky Novgorod made a pleasant impression of a cozy, well-groomed and green town, in which you want to stay to rest from the fuss of a huge megalopolis. The city has a very rich story, because it was in these places the first ruler of Russia Prince Rurik was called. Not far from the city is Rurikovo Gorodishche with the archaeological zone of those distant times. The city seems to be specifically made with maximum convenience for travelers. Here and the picturesque embankment of the Volkhov River with a sandy beach (during our visit, dozens of urban residents rested on it, because it was very hot), and the ancient Novgorod Kremlin with the churches of the 12th century inside. I really liked the decorations of the siege of the city by Western knight-crusaders - inside the walls of the Kremlin, the space is designed as if they are working on the walls and wake up with a weapon in order to break through the defense defenders. You go by and as if you imagine those distant times!

The territory of the historic center, the embankment of the river, the city park next to the Kremlin is created for unhurried walks and admiring the beauty of ancient architecture and modern urban space. A very interesting fountain inside the park - water as if flowing through the marble surface, which shows the coat of arms of the cities of the former Union republics. Walking, you can buy interesting handmade souvenirs or something from natural flax clothes - the wizards are arranged here the fairs every weekend.

The city itself is a small - the historical center can be bypassed for 3 hours, and after going to examine the surroundings. Not far from the city is the Wooden Architecture Museum (next to the Yuriev Monastery), in which the open-air samples of the houses of peasants and the noble class of past centuries are presented. You can go on the territory of the monastery itself and dine in the meadow - the place there is very picturesque, especially in the sunny July days, and the monastery food is incredibly tasty.

In Veliky Novgorod, a lot of tourists, including foreign ones. The city attracts people a combination of beautiful natural and architectural landscapes and gives pleasant impressions of travelers.
