Fortunately, despite the large number of local residents and the large size of the city, Surabaya does not suffer from overloaded roads, too violent traffic and bustle, like Jakarta and Bandung. This means that what is your hotel or hostel in Surabay is so critical as in some other cities of Indonesia. In the hotel world, Surabai has a whole range of quality and budget - you should not have any problems with the search for housing. Very simple hotel. All the most basic is a bed, a fan, a squat toilet, a simple washbasin (most likely, with cold water) - and all this, comrades, for 60,000 rupees per night (that is, five dollars!). If you are very limited in the budget, this place is suitable as it is impossible. That's just one should not expect anything supernatural. The hotel does not have its own site, and it is not on Bucking.com or Agoda.com (a good site, by the way), so, write the owners on the "soap" - [email protected] (or call 031 5317917 or 031 8123 0868) and book places. The hotel is located at Jalan Makam Peneleh 86, which is almost in the city center, next to the Makam Belanda cemetery and the river.
Orchid Guest House.
If you have no money, but you are still ready to spend a little more to feel in comfort, then this gesthouse is perfect for you. With air conditioning, a spring mattress, a TV and a good toilet (and this is important!). Of course, like all budget accommodation options, this guest house has a minus, for example, dull lighting or hot water problems. Light in the lobby in the evenings is turned off to save energy - throughout the hotel. Despite these problems, the rooms are always clean white sheets and old TVs with local channels. Plus a good breakfast and location near the Old Town (at Jalan Bongkaran 49). What else is needed for economical travelers? Two room here can be booked somewhere in 140,000 (11 bucks).
Kenongo Hotel.
Hotel budget type, where the room can be removed for 250,000 rupees per day. For this money you will be offered hot shower, air conditioning and a good toilet. The hotel is good compared to other shacks that Java and Surabaya can offer. The location of the hotel is good because it is just 750 meters from the train station (at Jalan Embong Kenongo 12) and the largest shopping center of all Indonesia, that is, you can avoid hassle, trying to cheaper to get to the night and not be deceived by cunning drivers. Neat and tidy rooms with clean beds, everything is quite convenient, although not sufficiently cozy. In short, the hotel does not cause any rejection, the breakfast is modest, but for this price it is unlikely that something is cheaper and better to find in the area.
Hotel Paviljoen.
For those who are looking for something a little better than most of the budget seats in the city, the hotel will be a good option. Clean and recently renovated rooms. The main building of the hotel complex is a very pretty well-developed construction in the colonial style "on the other level", as they say. Standard rooms are equipped with a fan and cold water, but more expensive rooms offer air conditioning and hot water. The hotel is located at Jalan Genteng Besar 94-98, just 1 km from the railway station. Well, the same thing is that the hotel has very friendly staff -Close, advise, give cards. Rooms for two here are from 100,000 rupees. Breakfast is simple, bread and jam (served on the hotel's own terrace). If you want to eat something like something, you can go to the kiosks with food, tuned on the same street. Definitely, plus. In general, a good place to relax in an interesting and lively city.
Losmen Puri.
Looking like an area of territory at the hotel Hana (located as close to this hotel, on Jalan Makam Peneleh 92. But Khan is better in any case). The hotel offers basic at a bargain price. Basically, local tourists from other cities stop here. Each room has a bed, a fan, toilet and a soul like. The hotel is fairly light, the rooms are clean and the staff is friendly. Probably therefore the hotel is incredibly popular, so do not be surprised that all rooms can be occupied when you arrive. Rooms are here from 60,000 rupees.
For those who are willing to spend a little more and get a little more comfort, I can definitely advise the Hotel Majapahit Surabaya 5 *. No doubt, this charming hotel is the best hotels in the city. The colonial style of the hotel, built in 1910, is supplemented with beautiful modern furniture (made under ancient), carved chandeliers and all amenities for outdoor activities (gym, spa, etc.) - a wonderful combination of all the best of old and new time. The hotel is not the cheapest (the number for two here is from € 80), but I would recommend it for those who want something special.
You can also advise the hotel much cheaper than this "five", but better than all options that I offered the above-SuraBaya ibis Rajawali. This hotel is located in the building, probably built in the early 1900s, though it seems that the building stage of the beginning of the 2000s - highlightens quite modernly (look for Jalan Rajawali 9-11). Of course, no five-star luxury plaque, but again, and inexpensive!
Pretty modern rooms with cable TV, air conditioning, double beds with soft blankets and good modern furniture (you can book 880,000 rupees). Such a middle class hotel, but more than a pleasant and comfortable.
