In my opinion, shopping lovers in Maribor, as well as in other cities of Slovenia, there is nothing to do. But, nevertheless, bring gifts to relatives and loved ones, as well as please yourself, it will still work out.
What to buy?
Souvenirs
Souvenirs here are standard: magnets, mugs, plates, T-shirts with the inscription Slovenia, uncomplicated toys, small Slovenian flags. From nonstandard: There are very beautiful handmade products, such as lace napkins, scarves, collars, wooden boxes, dishes, clay items. Local products made of glass deserve special attention: beautiful, but, unfortunately, fragile.
Cosmetics
Girls will delight Slovenian cosmetics. It is considered genuine, its composition includes therapeutic dirt and thermal water.
Slovenian wines
Wines from the local grapes are amazing, not in vain, even the state anthem of the country begins with words, praising Slovenian wine and grapes. The most popular wines produced in the Maribor area, one of the best wine-growing areas of the country, are made from the grapes of Chardonnia varieties, Sauvignon and Pinot Blanc. "Williamovka", "Grushkovka" and "Medica" are popular from the stronger drinks.
Products
In the grocery supermarket, be sure to pay attention to the local dried meat called the message. He is stored for a long time, so it will not be challenged to the house. Try the same Slovenian chocolate "Gornka" and local honey - they will definitely want to grab with them.
Where to buy?
There are practically no large shopping centers in Maribor. Basically trade takes place within the historic center, here we found several bookstores, cosmetic, small clothing stores with unknown brands. In general, in terms of trade here, things are not very fun, especially with regard to the tourist goods. So, behind the magnetics and plates had to run. They were sold mainly in the information tourist center, but the choice was very meager.
Market
Right in the very center of Maribor, opposite the Franciscan church, we found a small farm market. Fresh vegetables, mushrooms, a variety of flowers, and most importantly, which will be interested in tourists - Slovenian homemade wine, very tasty and sweet.
Shopping Complex EUROPARK.
The Europark Shopping Complex, which is also called the largest shopping center Slovenia, is located near the center of Maribor, on the other side of the River Drava, on the closer Tsest, 18. Mercur shopping center
They told us that in Maribor there is a Mercur shopping center. We did not go there for two reasons. First, we were in the city a lot of time, and we had no opportunity to go shopping. Yes, and the shopping center is far away, almost on the road from the city, on Trozhaskaya Street, 87. Secondly, they are mainly sold there industrial products, home and household goods and electrical engineering products, and this is not exactly interested.
