Biblos in August

Biblos was originally planned by our family as one of the items of the Lebanon route. And everything turned out differently. So this city had fallen to us, that we decided to stay in it for ten days. So even Beirut really did not look.

They flew to Beirut, from it to the biblos of approximately kilometers forty. In Biblos, the hotel did not book, looking for in place. I was looking for a short time, maybe NM was lucky, but in an hour after arrival, we drank coffee on the balcony of our room. And looked at the sea.

There is some special atmosphere in Biblos. Very nice, friendly, tactful locals. Do not try to "wear" goods and services, do not try to deceive, dilute. That bribed us. We relax completely. In the morning, breakfast, went to the beach. I can not say that it is very clean on the beach, but it was not enough to people on weekdays. On weekends - much more, as locals arrived on the beach.

Most of the time, we spent, just walking around the city - the streets of restaurants most often. I went to the first restaurant who fell. Everywhere on cheap, but tasty. Especially Meza is a traditional Lebanese dish. In the hotel we had only breakfasts, so there were also dinner and dinner "on the side". The ice cream is very tasty in Biblos - I ate, probably, ton with a tail.

The city is more than seven thousand years. And forever his someone won - then the Persians, then the Egyptians, then the Romans. And on the architecture it is felt. Just look at the castles, cathedrals, medieval walls. We saw it on this inheritance of conquerors in the archaeological park.

After a week of rest in Biblos, I already understood all these Assyrians and Arabs with the Crusaders who were continuously attempted to this town. I would also eat. To forever settle. Such a thought came to my mind when the top of the crusader castle saw the surroundings. Not a city, but a dream. Beautiful, cozy, everything is saturated with deep old. Plus an amazing climate - with heat at 35 degrees in August-month, it breathes easily. For ten days I had a well-being, like astronauts. The reserve of drugs in the first-aid kit remained untouched.

Attractions of Biblos we inspected not one time, since there are not so many of them in the city. In the church of John the Baptist, among other things, the magnificent mosaic floor was impressed. Interestingly, some doors in this Christian church are decorated in arabic style. Traces of conquerors, however.

Not far from the church is the Museum of Wax Figures. Very curious. Presented scenes from the history of Lebanon. Who has good memory, you can study the history of the country with a pleasure, not looking into textbooks.
