Majestic Leipzig

The first impression of the city was formed at the railway station immediately upon arrival. The Central Station set tone with its fantastic greatness. A huge vaulted roof with a rib frame and massive arches stolen and caused trepid.

The same impression of the grandeur appeared in the Church of St. Thomas (Tomascirhe): white-red arches, faceted columns, organic music, rising up. The church is known for the fact that Johann Sebastian Bach worked in her, being the leader of the choir of boys. He was buried here.

Leipzig is known and another genius. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe studied here in the 18th century, and in the cellar of Auerbach - one of the oldest restaurants of Leipzig (the first mentions of it are dated of the 15th century) - Goethe first heard the legend about the Faust Warlock. I do not really love historical restaurants, but this establishment is special. And serves the dishes of Saxon cuisine.

In this city, it is not customary to hide their luckless past. The proof of this is the monument to the Battle of Peoples - the most massive monument in Europe. Around the rising granite building, there are giant stone knights with sullen faces and heads, which symbolizes the stupidity of the war.

More recent events are reflected in the Memorial Museum, which is located in the former headquarters of the Stati. If you are weak spirit, it is better to pass by: the tools of the mystery police will not like.

During World War II, there were not very many buildings in Leipzig compared to other German cities. Therefore, the feeling of past centuries has been preserved. Especially in the evening, when the lanterns are lit, the tram rattles on the edge of the old quarter, the smells of fried sausages are heard from the kiosks, the exclamations of the pirung companies are heard.

Of course, there are a lot of beer. You can try the classic Golden Lager, and you can find one of the rare varieties - Leipziger Gose. The discovery for me was the fact that on a par with beer in Leipzig, coffee is very loved. Zum Arabischen Coffe Baum (Arab Coffee Tree) is an old Leipzig coffee house, where you can also taste the famous almond cookies "Leipzig Larks".
