Shopping in Prague: Tips and recommendations

The capital of the Czech Republic is well suited as a city to make shopping.

In the sense that the shops and shopping centers of the city can offer their customers a good range of products. In addition, it seemed to me that the prices of clothes and shoes were very acceptable.

Many shops are located directly in the center of Prague, on Wenceslas Square. Here you can buy everything: clothes, shoes, accessories, mobile phones, cosmetics and perfume. At the intersection of Square with Jindrisska Street there is a large 3rd (or 4th) storey shopping center, one of the floors of which is focused only on the sale of children's products.

Most of the goods sold in the area of the city's main square are produced in the Czech Republic. It is worth noting that Czech goods possess simply excellent quality and look great. In the properties of the trading hall, you will capture at least 20 things with you. And when you look at the price tags, you will be surprised how good things can cost so cheap! For cosmetics, the latter phrase does not apply.

Shops on Wenceslas Square in its most open from 10:00 to 20:00. But it's still so, pampering, not shopping.

You can truly "buy" in several huge shopping centers a little away from the center of Prague. Just 3-5 blocks from the main square of the city.

In particular, not bad Shopping center "Passage Slovansky Dum" Located at: Na Prikope, 22. Almost next to the powder tower, and this street leads just from the tower to the square. Here, among others, there is a store called "Hypnose", in which you can see things from Versace and Galliano.

But shopping center Palladium (Palladium Shopping Center) - This is something stunning. Located at the intersection of Na Porici and Revolucni streets. Really huge shopping center.

It has such a large underground parking that we, returning after making purchases, another 10-15 minutes searched for their car. Parking machines, if I don't confuse anything, free.

The shopping center itself consists of several floors, I do not even know how many precisely. Shops and pavilions are just an incredible amount. Everything is for sale, it makes no sense to list. For every taste and wallet. Again, many shops are put up for sale Czech production, but there are world-famous trademarks such as Calvin Klein, 7Camicie, Marks & Spencer, Bata. And I note that prices for goods in the Czech Republic are an order of magnitude lower than in our country.

Remark. If you are in Prague with a girl, then immediately schedule "throw out" from your life at least half a day on shopping.

Now it concerns the return of VAT ( Tax Free. ). Return VAT can only not resident countries. Shops in which it is possible to return Tax FREE, designated by the corresponding sign, as a rule "Global Blue". Return in Tax Free or No, you can just ask the sellers.

To return VAT in the Czech Republic, you must first buy goods in one store totaling at least 2001 Czech crown . After that, the seller fills in a special check "TAX REFUD Cheque". It includes data from the passport, home address and purchase information (from the cashier). It is also immediately calculated and indicated the amount to return is approximately 14% of the purchase price. Honestly, the procedure is tedious, but you need this money, not the seller. Therefore, carefully check so that there are no typos and errors.

According to the rules, several checks are allowed in the same store for one day, the main thing is that their amount amounted to 2001 crown. But for some reason, administrators of some stores refuse to return VAT. With this, you can also fight, only the path will be slightly thorny. You then declare that all previously purchased things return what you are doing. You return money for the goods. After that, immediately buy all things already one check! The seller "boils" (a clear case, so many papers arrange), but you are satisfied.

The goods before the export from the territory of the European Union cannot be used and should not be unpacked. Next you need to put a stamp on Prague Customs.

In principle, there is one Tax Free Return Prague itself. It is located a few blocks from Wenceslas Square at: Vodickova, 38. You need to go from the square towards Vltava. But here is a surprise: without custom printing, they will not return money to you (I checked). And since the prints of this press can only be obtained at Prague Airport, I personally had a lawsuit on the feasibility of such an item in the center of the Czech capital.

In general, the refund takes place in the building of Prague's airport, on the 1st floor. On everything can leave for 10-40 minutes. Notice the most important with suitcases and bags (only not in the flight registration window). The queue of our tourists is really big, but there are several customs officers, so it moves quickly. When your turn is suitable, it is necessary to present a passport worker, a commodity check and purchased goods. If desired, the inspector can refer to the goods with the check and control that they were not used. But at the airport they, to put it mildly, tired. Therefore, everything happens faster: the inspector "throws" a quick glance on the bags and puts a stamp at the commodity check (who is a commodity).

We did not know this procedure then and our suitcases have already passed into baggage. When the customs officer asked where my things, I answered him. I was really not aware. Then the inspector just took all my checks and stamped them. Without looking, for what thanks him! After all, this way (although it is by chance) I managed to "lie" to stamping even Italian checks of three-month old limitations and one Austrian (though fresh, but shoes from that check was just on me). And VAT for all these checks I was returned to the full volume.

After that, in the same transit hall of the airport, we become another small queue (if you stand back to the customs point, then on the left - there is a sign "Cash Point"). We present a passport, the cash check is already with a stamp and the filled form "TAX refund Cheque". The credit card is not asked, although its data must be specified in this form. Tax Free Return is carried out in cash immediately, and in euro! And I wondered what I would do at home with Czech krons?

But. For some reason (I could not understand) I did not core two checks and said to contact another window. It is located on the contrary, that is, on the right side, if you stand back to the customs point. This window is also the queue. There, the worker carefully checked something in the computer, made some kind of mark and gave me two special envelopes. I invested in each of them by Tax refund Cheque with the commercial checks attached to them. Be sure to make sure that your credit card is correctly filled. The envelopes are stuck and lowered into a special box (no addresses should not be written on the envelopes). About a month later, the money was made to my credit card.

Finishing about the Prague airport, I will say the following. On the 2nd floor behind the stores Duty Free on the way to aircraft there is another customs point where you can post checks for goods purchased already in Duty Free. I did not have time to see if there is at the same time and the return point of VAT, but the customs seal on commercial checks is also a lot. Money will be returned in my country, albeit in national currency.
