In July, with my family rested on Rhodes Island in the resort town of Faliraki. The island itself is not very big, so at any point of the island from the airport is not very long to get. Faliraki is the center of the resort life, a small village crowded with tourists. This part of the island is addressed to the Mediterranean Sea, here it is calm and not at all the storm. But on the other side, the island of the Aegean Sea, it is much more stormy and is suitable for fans of water sports.
We rested in July, and for Rhodes it, apparently, is not the best time. The patron of the island is the ancient Greek God of the Sun, so that with the sun there is no problem. And in July it is very hot. If it were possible, they would have chosen to travel September.
Another traditional feature, as in all hot countries is Siesta. So if you have not chosen food at the hotel, then there will be no problems with dinner. In Faliraki, all cafes, restaurants and bars open at 6-7 pm and work until the morning. On the main street in the afternoon, only local fast food and benches with ice cream worked. There are here and very interesting places, such as the tavern "Kostas". It is very beautifully decorated and finds well from all neighboring cafes and bars. Feed there tasty.
In fact, in Greece such a name - "Kostas" wears every second institution: car rental, shops, cafes and restaurants.
Rhodes are not a very large island, about 70 km long and 40 wide. Therefore, for traveling around the island, it is very convenient to rent a car.
On Rhodes is simply impossible to get lost. Just driving a circle on the main highway (on all maps it is highlighted in red), you can see many interesting places and attractions of the island. Rent a simple car costs about 25-30 euros per day, also do not forget about gasoline costs.
A little more about the sea: the beaches are clean, no marine hectares, only sand and small pebbles. All beaches correspond to high European standards. Water is always very warm, because the heat is unbearable.
The general impressions of the rest are very good and positive. The island is a very beautiful and sunny place, with beautiful nature and unique monuments of ancient architecture, so I advise everyone to visit there.
