This summer wanted some kind of diversity and instead of the usual marine resorts, we decided to go to Europe. The choice stopped at the Hungarian lake Balaton, as a place for our tourists not so popular.
I did not regret my choice never !!! Balaton - famous lake in the western part of Hungary, famous for its thermal and mineral springs, is the largest in Central Europe. There are a lot of healing complexes where people are restored with rheumatic, cardiovascular, nerve diseases, chronic fatigue. Even in Balaton restaurants, healing mineral waters from sources are served. It is believed that mineral springs also give a special aroma to local wines.
On the lake Balaton, you can relax with young children, the lake is not deep. The bottom of the lake is sandy. Water is well warmed. Especially shallow water is the southern coast of Balaton, the bottom drops smoothly, here we rested in a cozy house.
But in one place was not sitting, but traveled through the other surroundings of Balaton.
On the coast, many restaurants where you can try the traditional Hungarian ear.
Water here remains warm for a long time, you can swim from June to August. We rested in July, the air temperature was +30 degrees. Beaches are all herbal, but there are bridal sand. There are beaches paid and free. Almost everywhere the beaches are equipped with a shower and toilet, there are sun beds, awnings, locker rooms.
The North Coast of Balaton is a rocky and stony, there you can go on a tour of the forests, you can hunt and fish.
On the east coast, the sun shines in the morning and before the evening, so if you are going there, be prepared to be constantly under his rays.
For lovers of outdoor activities on the lake there are surfing, tennis, horse riding, cycling, shooting.
I really liked the houses in the vicinity of the resort, well-kept, multicolored, I envy the local residents who live in such beauty.
I managed to visit the Tikhan Peninsula. This is a protected area. Very picturesque part of the lake. It is the abbey and the Catholic monastery, they say that these are the most ancient buildings in Hungary.
I am very surprising for the existence of such an unusual resort and the fact that so few people know about him.
Balaton is a wonderful place where you can completely relax and health, it combines all: beautiful landscapes, lakes, forest, mountains, unique mineral waters and nature. So surprisingly, the Balaton is combined with everything that can be wished for recreation, it will be interesting to rest here and elderly people, and young couples, fun companies, and people who seek solitude and families with children.
