In Poznan, I went on a business trip. It was my first trip abroad, so the impressions of the mass. On the road (driving the car), noted well-groomed fields, in the city, as in any other, there are areas landscaped and not very. It was noticed that private houses are the same everywhere, as if to build them could be only one standard: two floors, where the door is located - deepening, flowers bloom in balconies everywhere.
Poznan before was the capital of Poland, this is the administrative center of the Greater Poland Voivodeship, it is located close to the border of Germany, so the Germans often come here and in local Poles residents can be found German names.
The city was founded by Prince Meshko I on the island of Tumsky, be sure to visit this island.
The city has modern buildings, buildings built in a socialist era,
And vintage buildings. Only here, in my opinion, some buildings would not hurt to renovate, paint on them sweating or the state has deteriorated from time (no wonder, because the city is quite old) and weather conditions.
The main square of the city is the old market, in the center of which is the Town Hall,
And exactly twelve hours every day goats gods every day, they are also a symbol of the city. Opposite the Town Hall - Fountain Proserpines, generally the entire town hall surrounds fountains and sculptures.
There is a shameful post, near which criminals and crooks were punished.
On the perimeter of the square are houses where various museums are located (Museum of Archeology, Museum of Musical Instruments, Museum of the Poznan Uprising).
On the square, you can still visit such attractions like: Royal Palace, Palace Gorki, Church of Franciscanians, Church of St. Stanislav and Virgin Mary, there you can listen to the concert of organ music, I did not go, as I had already listened to the body in Lviv before, the entrance is paid there.
The area of the Old Market is known for its exhibitions, festivals and fairs, but unfortunately, during my visit there was not a single such event.
On the square there are also many cozy cafes and shops, for example, I really liked the hot chocolate in the Kociak coffee shop.
I advise you to eat in the restaurants of national cuisine, I was treated with soup from cherry, herring in sour cream, unusual dishes, I was not accustomed to such combinations.
But from Soviet times in Poznan, dairy bars are preserved, there you can eat tasty and inexpensively.
Remarkable shops with jewelry, Poland is famous for its amber, I acquired myself a silver ring and a bracelet with this stone, Kruk's jewelry company, which used to decorate the Polish kings.
In Poznan, trams and buses go, the payment of travel depends on the duration of the journey. Modern and old trams:
There is a monument to Elephant in this city dedicated to Elephant from Zoo Poznan.
In my sense, in the city, especially in the old part there is some kind of spirit of the Middle Ages. There were no special problems with the language, almost all the older generation Poles know Russian, and the languages are similar, it is not difficult to understand.
