Kharkov is a big beautiful city that seemed to me remotely similar to Lviv in its architecture, only with wide avenues. Partly, it is similar to Dnepropetrovsk. The city was not in vain before the capital of Ukraine - he deserves this title.
My first acquaintance with Kharkov was on the way to Sumy. I went out at the station, breathed his air, went around a small circle and went to his train. The sculpture with a hemisphere, holding the globe, was remembered then this city. On the way back, I also went out, was already evening, burned the lanterns, it was dark. It reached the road, where trams went to different directions. It is always so interesting, especially by a new city, find out what is there, I want to stop the time and stroll along the streets, and then go further. And maybe there is nothing interesting there, but when you pass by, the intrigue remains and only increases every time.
Arriving once purposefully in Kharkov, admiration began directly from the station. The painting of ceilings and proletarian-ampur art in the building of the railway station captured. Then there were sunny streets with beautiful buildings, big, just immense squares, many churches, different cathedrals and so much space that you can arrange waltto right in the midst of the street.
We lived two steps from a newly renovated metalworker stadium. It is located among high-rise buildings and wide streets and prospectuses. There are almost no trees around it and in the midst of a huge desert space, the stadium rises. We did not go to the matches, but they rode on the subway. It was the third and last metro in Ukraine, which I rode, in conclusion, so to speak. The station was called metrolybuilders. Metro is usual, as elsewhere, no features: a few branches and just a subway. Just the ring system of the city structure contributed to the similar subway system.
Going from the train station, you can still plunge into the old town, with low two-story buildings. There for foliage trees, the Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin, in which the combination of red and light bricks is contrasting and harmoniously fits into the architecture of the city. Not one river flows through the city, so you can walk through the bridges and enjoy the journey to the full. Such a variety is simply in the middle of the city fascinates.
Kharkov seemed to me the city of contrasts, so much had new sleeping areas from old buildings, architecture of temples and modern signs, echoes of the Soviet era in the monumentality of buildings. Prospects are especially wide in this city, the road width into a whole quarter.
For three days, spent here, so completely and failed to feel that the city was merged and examined. The journey took place, but with a slight feeling of inaccessibility, as if here it is still worth returning and go through new streets.
