In Marmaris, we arrived savages. For Turkey "Rest of savages" - the phenomenon is not the most common. But it turned out that in Marmaris independent travelers is enough. Marmaris is a town built up mostly by two-storey houses, many of these houses are redone or originally built as hotels. On the first line there is enough of higher hotels, but the comfort of the city gives a low-rise building and flowering gardens. They bloom even in October.
It seemed that Marmaris for Turkey as the Russian Gelendzhik: come, take off the place of Koycomesto and rest.
The beach in Marmaris leaves much to be desired. In the historic part of the city it is simply no, the depth of the shore is large, so there are boats there. But the residential part (if you stand face to the sea, then right) - you can swim. As you remove from the center, the stone beach smoothly goes into the sandy.
The excursion program for independent tourists is the same as for holidaymakers in the trigs: sea excursions, travels for several days to other regions of Turkey, it does not matter what to go far and most of the time will eat the road.
The optimal option for Marmaris is to rent a car. Then you can go to Dalyan (however, there are in the sea), look at the tomb of the ancient Lycia, flashes in medicinal dirt.
For individual tourists of the Marmaris infrastructure, it is enough: the old city and fort, the market, which in the full sense of the word is the Turkish market - here in the assortment are presented fakes, and possibly the originals of popular European brands, ranging from the Nepophone CampDavid finishing Burberry. The fruit market hides in the courtyards, we stumbled upon it completely by chance, but the schedule of his work is mysterious.
There are a couple of shopping centers, at different ends of Marmaris, but the range of BluePortVags in longing, and we simply did not get to the second. However, on the first floors of houses located along the main street, there is such a number of shops that you can hardly leave without shopping. But traded the same fakes as in the central market.

We are satisfied with rest in Marmaris. It is unlikely that we will return in the coming years, there are too many interesting places in the world to return to where we were already, but we remember about Marmaris with pleasure.
