In Paphos, there is a huge number of hotels for every taste and wallet, so it is sometimes difficult to navigate in such a variety. First of all, you need to choose the hotel's price category - in the city presented both cheap hostels for youth and hotels in the middle price category (3 stars), as well as luxurious 4-5 star hotels. In fairness it is worth noting that most of the hotels belong to the category - 3-4 stars, so if you are looking forward to such a hotel, you will have a lot more choice. As I noted above, hostels, of course, are, but they are not so much, so if you decide to book this accommodation, you should do it in advance.
Hotels are located both in the city and in the suburbs of Paphos. In both options, there is both its advantages and its cons. I would like to start with a brief review of hotels located on the territory of the city.
Pluses of hotels in Paphos:
- There is a huge number of cafes and restaurants in the city, as well as travel agencies.
- Beach's proximity (if the hotel is on the waterfront)
In the path of Paphos, the beaches are clean, so you can swim in the city. The beaches there are small, but nevertheless they are present, the water is clean there.
- Proximity to sights and shopping centers
If you stop in the city itself, you will be easily accessible to the archaeological park, and to the museums of the city, as well as to shopping centers. It is possible that you do not have to use the services of taxis and buses at all, since it is quite possible to walk around the city.
Cons Hotels in Paphos:
- lack of a large area of the hotel
As a rule, in the urban hotels of the green area or not at all, or it is located next to the Promenade (the path for which people constantly go), so you will not get a solitary relaxing holiday. However, if you are not annoyed by the fact that people will be constantly walking next to you - welcome to city hotels.
- Lack of long sandy beaches
As I noted above, there are beaches in the city, but they are small. If you would like to enjoy your holiday on a long sandy beach, which stretches along the shore - Paphos hotels are not for you.
We turn to the country's hotels that are a great set in the suburbs. So,
Pluses of suburban hotels:
- The presence of a large green area
As a rule, in almost all hotels that are below the city, there is a rather large territory on which several pools, sun beds are located, and leisure zones. In particular, it was exactly that in our hotel (we lived in Capital Coast Resort and SPA, which was a 15-minute drive from the port of Paphos).
- Large privacy
There are no foreign people on site, no one goes past you, so you can relax and immerse yourself in a leisure holiday.
Availability of own beach. Unfortunately, there are far from all hotels in all hotels, but if the hotel is a country, then the probability of that is still big.
Cons of country hotels:
- far from attractions, travel agencies and just from the city
- Lack of large selection of cafes and shops
Of course, there were cafes and restaurants near our hotel, but there were quite a bit of them - in walking distance of only about four-intensities, while one of them is an Indian restaurant, the second - the bar, where it was possible only to have a snack, the third is a Chinese restaurant and Two Greek taverns. In general, the choice was small. We were lucky with the store - almost opposite our hotel was the Lidl supermarket, in which we bought everything you need, but there was nothing at all next to other hotels.
What should pay attention to when choosing a hotel:
Pafos, like many other cities, has its own specificity. First of all, Paphos differs from other resorts (alas, for the worse) with some problems with the beaches. Do not be afraid, of course, there are beaches there, but a number of beaches are not very suitable for swimming, because there are strong underwater flows and waterways. People are bathed there, but on such beaches it is safe to go into the water in the belt or on the chest - of course, in this case no course will be carried out, and you can safely splash in shallow water. If you are used to swimming and in particular to swim to the buoy, then you should carefully approach the choice of hotel and read all the reviews about the beach. Do not choose the beaches on which there are waterproofs - despite the fact that they have rules of behavior and even a scheme, like from a whirlpool, people sometimes drown there. Oddly enough, sometimes there are such beaches and very good hotels - our neighboring hotel Venus Beach, 5 stars possessed this beach. There was constantly a lifeguard, and people did not come deep.
In addition, dealing with the choice of the hotel, you should pay attention to generally accepted things - the availability of a large area, entertainment (if you are interested in it). For lovers of a water slide, I can note that a fairly large number of suburban hotels of Paphos has its mini-water park, in one hotel, we even saw four (!!) rather good slides. I can even list the names of these hotels - all of them were located between Paphos and the Beach Coral Bay (one of the best beaches in the area). This is a five-star King Evelton with two slides, Hotel Azia, as well as two more hotels whose names I, unfortunately, do not remember. Everywhere, the rescuers duty near the slide, so that lovers of water entertainment would certainly enjoy it.
